Stampin' Up! Valentine.....

My card today has been created for a swap that I was asked to join last month at Soul Scrappers.  I've been a member of this group for a few years now & are a lovely bunch of ladies.  Great place to see so many wonderful photos, ideas, challenges & scrapbook pages.

I don't really have any "Valentine" stamps, so I sort of used a couple of stamps from different sets to achieve my look.  I did know that I wanted to keep it very simple without going over the top.  I certainly hope the ladies liked it.

Be sure to check back in a couple of days, as I will be posting the swaps I received.

SC 023/12....

Our challenge over at Sunny Challenges & Creations this week is to create a card, scrapbook page, 3-D Item, etc with a "Love" or "Valentine" Theme.  Be sure to head over to see what both Kris & Shirley  - who is our Guest Designer fo rthe next couple of weeks, while Gwen takes a little time off.

It seems like forever since I created a card as I have been enjoying my scrapbooking.  I hope you have too!

This proved more difficult than I thought it would for me, but I think I got there in the end.  I elected to go with non-traditional colours, although in the end I did throw a bit of red (Riding Hood Red) into the card.  I wanted to create a card which would maybe suit a male without being too "pretty"!

Measurements -
Base Card - Early Expresso Cardstock - 8 1/4" x 4 1/8" or 21cm x 10.5cm  Scored in middle & folded in half
Layer 1 - Vanilla Vanilla Cardstock - 5 5/8" x 4" or 14cm x 10cm
Layer 2 - Early Expresso Cardstock -  4" x 3 1/2" or 10cm x 9cm
Layer 3 - Very Vanilla Cardstock - 3 7/8" x 3 3/8"

I layered my piece of Very Vanilla Cardstock onto my Base Card - Early Expresso, using Snail Adhesive.

I run the smaller piece of Very Vanilla Cardstock through the Bigshot using Embossing Folder - Perfect Polka Dots & adhered to the piece of Early Expresso Cardstock.

I stamped 2 images onto a scrap piece of Very Vanilla Cardstock using Riding Hood Red, adhered one to the embossed piece with Multipurpose Glue, while the top heart was "popped" with Stampin' Dimensionals.

I tied a piece of Ribbon across the bottom of the 2 pieces prior to adhering to the Base Card with Snail Adhesive.

I stamped my sentiment direct onto the Base Card with Riding Hood Ink.

Supplies -
Stamp Set - I {Heart} Hearts, Well Scripted
Ink - Riding Hood Red
Cardstock - Early Expresso, Very Vanilla
Ribbon - 3/8" Taffeta - Riding Hood Red
Embossing Folder - Perfect Polka Dots
Accessories - Snail Adhesive, Bigshot, Multipurpose Glue, Stampin' Dimensionals

Until next time, Enjoy!

Valentine...

This is my very first Valentine's card!  New stamp set arrived today!

I had told myself that I wasn't going to purchase any valentine stamp sets, but when I saw this lovely set in the current Mini, that thought went out the window.  This set is just so cute, but the best thing I like about it is that it is a very fine set & not overbearing!

I've created this card for Mary Jo's Monday Lunchtime Sketch  Great sketch Mary Jo.

Cut base card using Poppy Parade Cardstock
Cut Sahara Sand Cardstock & run through Bigshot using Embossing Folder Perfect Polka Dots
Cut piece in Poppy Parade & using Pinking Hearts Border Punch, punch along bottom of cardstock
Cut smaller piece in Not Quiet Navy & adhere to Poppy Parade
Cut Very Vanilla Cardstock & using Poppy Parade Ink, stamp image down centre
Adhere Very Vanilla to Not Quiet Navy
Adhere Not Quite Navy Ribbon along top & tuck ends under
Adhere this piece to base card about 1/4 way from bottom
Stamp sentiment onto Very Vanilla Cardstock using Poppy Parade Ink
Using small Oval Punch, punch sentiment & then cut around the sides using scissors
Adhere to middle of ribbon using SU Dimensionals

I've just realised that I haven't quiet finished my card according to the sketch, but hey I don't really think that it matters.  The majority of the card is as per the sketch.  If I get time, I may attempt to have another go.  Sorry Mary Jo!

Short n Sweet...

I've come across a card which I did for Valentine's Day some time ago, but I am sure that it has never been posted.
This Stamp Set is  very versatile & able to be used for such a variety of occasions.
As I always keep a sketch or photo of cards, projects, etc, I've been able to reuse an old layout for this card.  Always handy for when you are stuck for ideas...

Supplies Used -
Stamp Set - Priceless, Wonderful Words - Retired
Ink - Pretty in Pink, Chocolate Chip
Card Stock - Chocolate Chip, Pretty in Pink, Whisper White
Punches - 1 3/4" Circle, Scallop Circle
Accessories - Snail Adhesive
Non-SU - Ribbon

Crikey, I've managed to use another retired stamp set - Warm Words.  Again, it has missed being marked as "Retired", but have now been amended & filed in the Retired Dump!  Think I will be going through my stamp sets tmw/today & checking if there are any more to be marked "Retired".
Until tmw, have a great night & happy stampin'

Challenge - TSSC101

Hello Stampers,
I have finally manged to get home - for a couple of hours - chasing up stuff, etc & then on my way again!
I did this challenge late last night when it come through.  Not exacly what I had planed but still I am happy with it - maybe????

Card Sample

Supplies -
Stamp Set - Always
Cardstock - Whisper White, Pink Pirouette, Riding Hood Red
DSP - Walk in the Park - Retired
Ink - Pink Pirouette, Going Gray
Punches - 1 3/8" Circle, 1 1/4" Circle, 1/2" Circle
Accessories - Snail Adhesive, Dimensionals, Pretties Kit

All in all this turned out to be a very easy 5 minute card, ie once I knew what colours I was going to use.  I have just realised that the DSP is not current, although it can always be replaced with one of the lovely current Designer Papers.

To lift the card a little, I added the small gray flower inside the "Always".
It looked a little dull prior to that & I didn't want to used Dazzling Diamonds.  I seem to be overloading on that stuff at the moment!

I have tried to vere away from the traditional colours of Valentine - to a certain extent I have!

Until next time, Happy Stampin'
Vicky
