Challenge 126...

Challenge 126 for my Yahoo group is all about Animal Antics.

We have to create a card, scrapook page or projcet that features an animal - even bugs are allowed.

I wasn't going to do it as I seemed to have so many ideas going around in my head that I was getting a little confused, but then wanted to try a Criss-Cross Card.  I've never done one of these previously.  I have seen them around "blog world" for some time.  As usual, I've adapted my card to fit the Australian standard envelope.

Once I put the Card together, I adhered Ribon around the bottom half & tied a bow.  I stamped my image onto a piece of Very Vanilla Cardstock using Basic Black Ink.  I coloured the image using my Aqua Painter, Basic Grey & Rose Red Inks.  This was adhered to a piece of Rose Red Cardstock.  Using SU Dimensionals, the whole piece was placed on the front of the card just a little off centre.

For the inside of my card, I again stamped the image in the bottom right hand side on Very Vanilla Cardstock & coloured the same as the front.  I sponged Rose Red around the end of the Very Vanilla Cardstock using my SU Sponges & Pastels.  This piece was adhered to a piece of Pumpkin Pie Caardsock.  Using Rose Red Re-Inker, I dyed 2 flowers & kept one of them the natural colour.  I adhered these together & mounted top left hand side of the card ensuring that the flower was not too far over so that I couldn't slide the card into its pocket.  A Basic Pearl was stuck in the middle.

Supplies -
Stamp Set - Pun Fun
Ink - Rose Red, Basic Grey, Basic Black
Cardstock - Very Vanilla, Pumpkin Pie, Rose Red
DSP - Sweet & Sour Speciality
Ribbon - 5/8" Organza - Whisper White
Accessories - Multipurpose Glue, Basic Pearls, Flowers, SU Sponge, Aqua Painter, Pastels

Until next time, Enjoy!

Technique...

Inside of Card...

For the class at Caloundra Community Centre, we did the Technique - Baby Wipe.  This one has been around for some time, but I never tire of it & for the life of me, can't understand why I don't do it more often.  Tutorial for this Technique may be found Here...

Now I have made 2 complete different cards, each using the same design from pre-SU.  Mind you, these look nothing like the original.

Base Card - Tempting Turquoise - 4 7/8" x 4 1/4" or 15cm x 10.5cm
Layer 1 - Whisper White - 4 3/4" x 4" or 14.5cm x 10cm
Layer 2 - Daffodil Yellow - 4 1/2" x 3 1/2" or 11.5cm x 9cm
Layer 3 - Whisper White - 4 3/8" x 3 3/8" or 11cm x 8.5cm
Layer 4 - Melon Mambo - 3 1/2" x 3" or 9cm x 7.5cm
Layer 5 - Whisper White - 3 3/8" x 2 7/8" or 8.5cm x 7cm

For the colours of my Baby Wipe, I used Re-Inkers - Tempting Turquoise, Melon Mambo & Elegant Eggplant.

Layer 1 -
I adhered a piece of Taffeta Ribbon across the top half of Whisper Cardstock & then applied to the Base Card - Tempting Turquoise.

Layer 2 -
First up, I stamp the flower images randomly across the larger piece of Whisper White.  Then using Old Olive Ink, I stamped the leaf image randomly around the flowers & adhered to Daffodil Yellow Cardstock.  I adhered Taffeta Ribbon across the top part of the card, ensuring that both ribbon pieces matched up evenly on the cardstocks.  I tied a bow & adhered to card.

Layer 3 -
Stamp the butterfly images randomly over the smaller piece of Whisper White Cardstock & adhere to the Melon Mambo Cardsock.  I adhered this piece to the 2nd layer & then adhered the whole lot to the base card.

I stamped the sentiment using Old Olive Ink directly onto the Whisper White Cardstock.

Supplies -
Stamp Set - Flower Fancy, All a Flutter, So Happy for You
Inks - Old Olive
Cardstock - Tempting Turquoise, Whisper White, Daffodil Yellow, Melon Mambo
Ribbon - 3/8" Taffeta Ribbon - Daffodil Yellow
Re-Inkers - Tempting Turquoise. Melon Mambo, Elegant Eggplant
Accessories - Multipurpose Glue, Snail Adhesive

Until next time when I will post the 2nd card.

Enjoy!

Inkspirations Challenge #73...

It is amazing what you find when you clean your desk & how bits of left over scraps will come together to make a card, let alone fit a challenge.  This is what I did for the Sketch Challenge over at Inkispirations Challenge  I took the colours from scraps lying on my desk & teamed them with the scraps of DSP.  I don't feel so guilty of not cleaning my desk!  That is my excuse anyhow.

I was recently asked if I stamped my envelopes to match my cards.  Ever since I started making cards, I had to match the envelopes to my cards.  I know the ladies I used to do cards with, thought it funny & strange, but that was me - has to match.  I also do the inside to match as well.  In future, I will show you both the envelope & inside, along with the card.

Base Card - Crumb Cake- 5 7/8" x 4 1/4" or 15cm x 10.5cm
Layer 1 -  Cherry Cobbler - 5 3/4" x 4" or 14.5cm x 10cm
Layer 2 - Very Vanilla - 2 1/4" x 2" or 6cm x 5cm
Layer 3 - DSP - 2 1/8" x 1 7/8" or 5.5cm x 4.5cm
Layer 4 - Soft Suede - 5 3/4" x 7/8" or 14.5cm x 1cm
Layer 5 - Early Expresso - 3" x 2 1/2" or 8cm x 6.5cm
Layer 6 - Very Vanilla - 2 78" x 2 1/8" or 7.5cm x 6cm

I adhered both pieces of DSP to Soft Suede & Very Vanila &  attached to Cherry Cobbler - as per the sketch.  Using Early Expresso & Soft Suede Inks, I stamped the image randomly onto the piece of Very Vanilla, adhered it to the Expresso Expresso, then to the Cherry Cobbler.  This piece was then adhered to the Base Card - Crumb Cake.

Using my Boho Blossoms Punch, I punch 5 flowers in Cherry Cobbler & adhered these randomly to the card.  Basic Pearls were adhered to the middle of each flower.

I used my Cherry Cobbler SU Marker to colour in the greeting, stamped directly onto Very Vanilla & punched out using the Word Window Punch.  I adhered this to the punched piece of Soft Suede which had been punched using my Modern Label.  This was adhered to the card.  I didn't exactly place it as per the sketch, so I hope the operators will forgive for this.

Supplies -
Stamp Set - Just Believe, So Happy for You
Inks - Early Expresso, Soft Suede
Cardstock - Crumb Cake, Cherry Cobbler, Very Vanilla, Soft Suede, Early Expresso
DSP - Elegant Soriee
Punches - Word Window, Modern Label, Boho Blossoms
Accessories - Multipurpose Glue, Basic Pearls, SU Markers

All in all, another easy, fun CAS card!

Until next time, Enjoy!

SSC 207...

The challenge over at Stamping 411 is a great one this week.  I couldn't believe how easy it looked!  Note, I said "look!"  These are the ones I always have trouble with, but decided to give it a whirl.

Measurements -
Base: 11 x 4 1/4", scored and folded in half at 5 1/2"

Layer 2: 5 1/8 x 3 7/8"
Layer 3: 5" x 3 3/4"

For the rest of the layer you could run a 1 inch strip of paper for layer 4, and maybe use a punch! Don't be afraid to change up the shape or even the measurements a little. Use this sketch as a jumping off point. You can use a star or anything that fits in the space (So ~ just about anything!).

After adhering all my layers, I adhered the Ribbon 3/4 way across the DSP, chalked 2 of the flowers - one in purples, the 2nd in pinks.  I think they come up to a near perfect match with the DSP colours!  I stuck a Pearl in the middle of the flower & adhered to the card.

How easy can it get!  A very CAS card in all - Clean & Simple - my favourite type!

Supplies -
Stamp Set - Nil
Inks - Nil
Cardstock - Blushg Bride, Concord Crush
Ribbon - 1/2" Stitched Ploy-Ribbon - Blushing Bride
Accessories - SU Flowers, Multipurpose Glue, Pearls, Stampin' Pastels

Until next time, Enjoy!

An Old Favourite...

It has been some time since I've used one of my favourite stamps - 5th Avenue Floral.  With some stamps, it doesn't seem to matter how you use them you are guaranteed that your card will always come up "roses" - so to speak.

I've never attempted a "Step Card" before & as usual I didn't go by any instructions to make mine, although there are heaps of instructions & tutorials out in blog land for you to follow.  I also made mine to fit our standard envelope in Australia.  As I really enjoyed making this type of card, I don't think it will be my last.

Cut A4 Cardstock - Bashful Blue - 11 3/4" x 4 1/4" or 29.5cm x 15cm
Back section of card for your greeting or note...
Score & fold from bottom along the longer side at 1", 2", 4", 6" & 10 1/4" or 2.5cm, 5cm, 10cm, 15cm & 26cm
Cut Bashful Blue Cardstock 5 7/8" x 4 1/4" or 15cm x 10.5cm
Adhere to back section of card - will give you a section for your card to fold out & stand
Cut 2 pieces of Wild Wasabi Cardstock - 5 3/4" x 4" or 14.5cm x 10cm & adhere 1 piece to the above section of card
Cut 2 pieces of Whisper White Cardstock 5 5/8" x 3 7/8" x 14cm x 9.5cm - stamp image onto 1 piece of card & adhere to Wild Wasabi
This section is the part you are able to write your greeting onto ie the inside of a normal card

Back Section -
I randomly stamped my images onto the 2nd piece of Whisper White Cardstock using Wild Wasabi, Bashful Blue & Crumb Cake Inks.  After dying my Whisper White Taffeta Ribbon with Crumb Cake Re-Inker & allowing to dry, I adhered this across the top half of the Whisper White Cardstock, adhered to Wild Wasabi & then to the Base Card.  I tied a bow & adhered this to the card too.

Middle Section -
I stamped the wording using Crumb Cake Ink onto Whisper White Cardstock, cut it out & adhered to Wild Wasabi, which was then adhered to the middle section.  I allowed a little bit of the wording sit above the fold, instead of flat against the card.  I made 2 flowers using retired Felt Flowers, small white flower which I dyed using Bashful Blue Re-Inker & a Silver Brad.  These were attached to the centre section of the card.

Front Section -
I cut a small piece of Wild Wasabi Cardstock & adhered to the Bashful Blue.  Using the Scallop Oval Punch & Crumb Cake Cardstock, I punched a piece of Whisper White which I had stamped the sentiment using Wild Wasabi Ink, & adhered to the Scallop punched piece.  I used the Large Oval Punch for the Whisper White.  I again dyed 3 small white flowers using the Bashful Blue Re-Inker, applied a silver brad in each & adhered to the card.

I've used a couple of retired products making this card, but they are able to be substituted for current products.  The flowers come from a big box of misc flowers - pre-SU - I have & dye from time to time so that I am able to use them up.

Supplies -
Stamp Set - 5th Avenue Floral, Oval All
Inks - Bashful Blue, Wild Wasabi, Crumb Cake
Re-Inkers - Bashful Blue, Crumb Cake
Cardstock - Whisper White, Wild Wasabi, Bashful Blue
Punches - Scallop Oval, Large Oval
Ribbon - 3/8" Taffeta Ribbon - Whisper White
Accessories - Multipurpose Glue, Silver Brads, Felt Flowers - Old Olive
Non-SU - Small White Flowers

Until next time, Enjoy!

CS34352... Flowers & Butterflies...

Lately it seems so long between my posts, but this time I have had a valid reason.  I've just finished creating & assembling invitations for a lovely couple who lost everything in the recent Brisbane floods - you can read more http://www.sunshineinvitations.blogspot.com/ or http://www.dreamweddingrescue.com.au/  - yep, nothing to do with stamping, but that is my excuse & I am sticking to it!  PS  Photos of the invitations won't be posted until next Tuesday when I know their guests have received their invitations, as I don't want to spoil the surprise.

Now on with stampin!

I decided to do a card from the sketch over at Creative Sketches I think I am cutting it a little fine, but hey I really had to think about this.  I knew what paper I wanted to use & that a male's card would hopefully be the end result, but try as I might, it turned into a female's card right before my eyes.

Base Card - Baja Breeze - 5 7/8" x 4 1/4" or 15cm x 10.5cm
Layer 1 - Soft Suede - 5 3/4" x 4" or 14.5cm x 10cm
Layer 2 - DSP - 5 5/8" x 2 1/4" or 14cm x 5.5cm
Layer 3 - DSP - 5 5/8" x 1 1/2" or 14cm x 4cm

I adhered the 2 pieces of DSP to the Soft Suede Cardstock.  I coloured my ribbon using Baja Breeze Ink & adhered across the join prior to adhering to the Base Card - Baja Breeze.  I then punched 2 squares from Soft Suede using my 1 1/4" Square Punch.  I repeated the same using Very Vanilla Cardstock

With the 2 pieces of Vanilla Vanilla Cardstock, I put these through the Bigshot & the Elegant Lines Embossing Folder.  I must admit, I have had this folder for some time, but has never been out of its folder!  Things will change now!  I attached these squares to the Soft Suede ones, as per the sketch & adhered to the card.

Using my Bigshot, the Beautiful Wings Embosslits Dies  & Baja Breeze Cardstock, I cut the butterflies out & adhered to the squares.  I then applied Rhinestones to the centre.  For my flowers, I inked the blue using Baja Breeze Ink & SU Sponge.  I layered all 3 together & adhered to the card.  I applied another Rhinestone to the middle of the flower.

I then stamped the sentiment directly onto DSP using Basic Gray Ink.  This was punched using the Large Oval Punch & another from the Scallop Oval Punch but with Baja Breese Cardstock.  I adhered both together & then to the card.

Supplies -
Stamp Set - Afterthoughts
Ink - Baja Breeze, Basic Gray
Cardstock - Baja Breeze, Soft Suede, Very Vanilla
DSP - Elegant Soiree
Ribbon - 38" Taffeta Ribbon - Whisper White
Punches - 1 1/4" Square, Large Oval, Scallop Oval
Embossing Folders - Elegant Lines
Embosslits Dies - Beautiful Wings
Accessories - Multipurpose Glue, SU Sponges, Rhinestones

Until next time, Enjoy!

Box of Notes...

With what started out something compeletely different, I am quite happy with the end result.  Although these little boxes have been around for quiet sometime, I wanted to try something or add something to it.  It gives the box a completely different look, yet still being useful to store your notes for messages.  Actually, now that I have seen the box in a new light, there are tons of ideas going around in my head.

Now that I think of it, the Box of Notes may also qualify for Latenight Stampers Weekly Challenge # 123, which is Making the Grade - showing your appreciation to those teachers who have made a difference in your child's life, or your own life for that matter.  This is able to be in the form of a card, gift, treat, etc

Supplies -
Stamp Set - Punch Bunch
Ink - Nil
Cardstock - Concord Crush, Whisper White, Blushing Bride
DSP - Lap of Luxury
Embosslits Dies - Beautiful Wings
Punches - Scallop Circle
Ribbon - 3/8" Taffeta Ribbon - Pretty in Pink
Accessories - Sticky Strip, Multipurpose Liquid Glue, Bigshot, Basic Rhinestones, SU Markers

Do you think mine fits the challenge?
