SC 038/12...

Crikey these weeks come round fast.  It just seems like yesterday that I posted the card for the challenge, but of course a new week sees a new challenge over at Sunny Challenges & Creations.
Along with the sketch we had to use the current "In Colours".  I chose to use a couple of colours that will be retiring come September.  I will admit I have not used these colours as much as I should have.

Measurements -
Base Card - Poppy Parade - 8 1/4" x 5 7/8" or 21cm x 15cm - Scored in the middle & folded in half
Layer 1 - Whisper White - 5 1/2" x 3 7/8" or 14cm x 10cm
Layer 2 - Poppy Parade - 2 1/8" x 3 1/2" or 9cm x 5,5cm
Layer 3 - DSP - 2" x 3 3/8" or 8.5cm x 5cm
Layer 4 - Poppy Parade - 3 7/8" x 2 3/4" or 10cm x 7cm
Layer 5 - Whisper White - 3 3/4" x 2 5/8" or 9.5cm x 6.5cm

Supplies -
Stamp Set - Growing Green
Ink - Pear Pizzazz, Peach Parfait, Poppy Parade
Cardstock - Whisper White, Poppy Parade
DSP - In Colours Designer Series Paper Patterns
Punches - Itty Bitty
Embossing Folders - Square Lattice
Ribbon - 1/2" Stitched-Poly - Peach Parfait
Accessories - Tombow Multipurpose Glue, SU! Dimensionals, Rhinestones, Mini Glue Dots, Blender Pen

I inked my image with Pear Pizzazz Ink & stamped direct onto the small piece of Whisper White Cardstock.
Envelope & Inside Card...
Using my Blender Pen, I coloured my image with Peach Parfait, inking my Pen a little at a time.  Feeling that it needed a little bit of a lift, I then added dashes of Poppy Parade Ink & blended with my Blender Pen.  The piece was run through the Bigshot using the Square Lattice Embossing Folder & adhered to the piece of Poppy Parade Cardstock with Tombow Multipurpose Ink.

I punched 3 small flowers using flower punch from the Itty Bitty Punch Set, worked out where I wanted to place them, applied Tombow to the back of each & adhered to the larger piece of Whisper White Cardstock.  I adhered the piece of DSP to the piece of Poppy Parade Cardstock &then to the large piece of Whisper White Cardstock. The whole lot was then run through the Bigshot & Embossing Folder - Square Lattice.

I adhered the piece of Ribbon across the width of the embossed piece, adhered the stamped piece to the top of the card with SU! Dimensionals, tied a bow, adhered to the card with Mini Glue Dots, & adhered 3 Rhinestones to the DSP flowers

All in all a very easy card, once which I am really happy with.  When making it, I didn't realise that it would be so clean & white!  My type of card!

Technique Class...

The card I am showing you today is one of the ones from our Technique Class last Sunday - Stained Glass - Embossed.
It is a very basic layout AND a very easy card to create.  In saying that, it did take me about 8 days to come up with it - don't you just hate that!  I think I was too busy concentrating on the layout instead of the technique.  So when I looked at the whole project from another angle, I shocked myself at how easy it eventually was & how very pretty & soft it turned out!

Anzac Day...

Today is a scheduled post as I always attend the Dawn Service on this Special Day - ANZAC DAY.  I think I have only ever missed it once due to ill health.  Even as kids, I always got up early & rode my bike to the Dawn Service & then later on would march with the school.

The service on the coast would have to be one of the best I have ever attended as the Last Post ringing out over the ocean is mind blowing & nearly brings me to tears every year.  If the Navy had a recruiting van parked along the beach, I am sure I would be one of the first to rejoin!!!!!  The goose bumps.....

Distressing....

I did a one on one class with the lovely Lynne last Friday.  As she had purchased some new ink pads, she wanted to know how to use them, so I put my thinking cap on & come up with the following card using Stampin' Up! Inks.

We had a lot of fun creating this, although our fingers did get very inky....  Lynne's was a little different to mine, especially as she used different inks too.

Note to self - wash fingers prior to touching cardstock!!!!!!

The layout itself is a basic one, as I wanted the techniques to showcase themselves.

Measurements -
Base Card - Perfect Plum - 8 1/4" x 5 7/8" or 21.5cm x 15cm
Layer 1 - Verey Vanilla - 4" x 5 3/4" or 10cm x 14.5cm

SC 037/12...

The new weekly challenge over at Sunny Challenges & Creations starts today.  It is an easy one this week, although it did set my mind racing as there are sooooooooo many ways you could create your project by creating a Window in your card!  Yep, Kris has set us a challenge by making a "window in our card".

I will admit, I based my card around 2 pieces of paper - one being the DSP & the other Soft Suede Cardstock.  I found these 2 pieces already adhered together in with the DSP pack.  Obviously, I had used the remainder of the strip for something else & the piece left was just perfect for a card folded on it's side.  The piece of Soft Suede Cardstock had even been punched with the Scallop Edge Border Punch, so that was an added bonus as far as I was concerned.

I even used a piece of Textured Cardstock for my Base Card which I found in my Textured Drawer of cardstock.  I thought it would take away the blank look of the front of the card while at the same time, giving it a suttle soft feel to the card........  I wanted the window to be my focus.

Then in the middle of creating my card, the "light bulb" went off & I created the window around a tiny stamp, but all will be revealed as we get further down........  curious now!!!!!!!!!!!!

Supplies -
Stamp Set - Elementary Elegance, Elements of Style, Sincere Salutations, En Francais
Ink - Soft Suede, Pink Pirouette
Cardstock - Pink Pirouette Textured, Very Vanilla, Soft Suede
DSP - Beau Chateau
Punches - Scallop Edge Border, 1 3/4" Circle, 2 3/8 Scallop Circle
Ribbon - 1/2 Seam Binding - Very Vanilla
Accessories - Tombow Multipurpose Glue, Dotto, Pearls, Snail Adhesive

Measurements -
Base Card - Pink Pirouette Textured Cardstock - 12" x 4 1/8" or 30cm x 10.5cm - Scored in the middle longways & folded in half
Layer 1 - DSP - 1" x 4 1/8" or 2.5cm x 10.5cm
Layer 2 - Soft Suede - 1" x 4 1/8" or 1.5cm

Once the card had been scored & folded in half, I cut about 1 1/4" of Cardstock from the front right hand side of the card - the top layer ONLY!!!!!!

Prior to adding my bits down the Right Hand Side of my card, I punched a circle from the front top layer of my card using the 1 3/4" Circle Punch.  I adhered the piece of DSP & Soft Suede Cardstock down the RHS with Snail Adhesive.  I allowed about 1/8" from the edge of the card showing on the RHS.
My little WOW factor with the little stamped bird inside the card

I punched a circle out of the DSP using the 1 3/4" Circle Punch, positioned the 2 3/8" Scallop Circle Punch over the top, ensuring that the DSP was even on all side prior to punching.  Don't you just love how all SU! punches gel together??????  You should have a scalloped circle ready to be placed over the the window in your card.

I cut a piece of Very Vanilla Cardstock for the inside of my card - 4" x 5 5/8" & adhered with Snail Adhesive.  A circle was punched from a scrap piece of paper with my 1 3/4" Circle Punch & placed over the top of the inside layer ensuring that the whole of the Very Vanilla was covered with the scrap paper.  I placed a temporary adhesive to the back of the paper with Dotto so that the paper wouldn't move around when I stamped.

I inked my script image with Pink Pirouette Ink, stamped over the paper & onto the Very Vanilla Cardstock.  The excess ink went straight onto the scrap paper.  When I removed the scrap paper, I had a round circle of script on the Very Vanilla Cardstock inside.  This script image appeared through the window when the card was closed.

TIP - To remove any little bits of Dotto on your card, rub gently with Adhesive Remover

See the little wings behind the big bird.....

I adhered my scalloped DSP circle over the top of the window with Tombow, stamped my bird image onto a scrap of Very Vanilla using Soft Suede Ink, cut out & WHAM - the "light bulb" switched on!!!!!!  I adhered the cut out bird  to the top of the DSP scallop circle by his little wing tip with Tombow.  The bird was covering the little bird on the inside & cannot be seen until you open the card.....
As the card was still missing something I tied a knot with Very Vanilla Seam Binding & adhered to the DSP with a Mini Glue Dot.

I decided to stop there, but after putting all my "stuff" away, I eyed my Pearls & thought "why not" - so on with the Pearls down the Scallop Edge Border & of course, 1 for his little eye.

I grabbed a greeting & stamped direct onto the Textured Cardstock with Soft Suede.  It just seemed to balance the card a bit better.

Don't forget to head over to Sunny Challenges & Creations to check out what Gwen, Kris & Tess have created, as well as our talented Weekly Guest Designers.

We would love for you to join us as this week, we have decided if we reach 10 entries there will be TWO (2) Ray of Sunshines announced the following Satrday.

Caloundra Community Centre...

Our card today has been around for quiet sometime, but I think they always make for a lovely card with just that different look. It  gives a whole new outlook on cards!  Doesn't matter how much you put on them or how little is on them, once that crimping kicks it - WOW!!!!
This stamp set is one of my favourites, although I must admit I don't use it nearly as much as I should.  The ladies wanted a little bit of an ocean feel this week & thought I would incorporate a card that can suit anyone & any occasion.  "Ocean Commotion"  does just that!

Full instructions may be found in this post.  I have just changed all my colours & stamps.
After stamping my coral in Basful Blue & Marina Mist Inks, I sponged all over the card using SU Sponge & Bashful Blue Ink.  I wanted it to be a little soft with just the tinge of sponging, so I didn't go too heavy on the sponging.  I repeated the same for the top half of the envelope.  The bottom half was then put through the crimper.
I stamped my fish & seahorse onto a scrap piece of Whisper White Cardstock with So Saffron Ink,cut around the images & adhered to the bottom of the envelope using Stampin' Dimensionals.

I tied a piece of Ribbon around the top half of the envelope & tied a knot.

For the inside, I stamped the coral onto Whisper White Cardstock using Bashful Blue & So Saffron Inks.  This was adhered to a piece of So Saffron.
For my bubbles, I poured random size drops of Crystal Effects onto a small piece of Window Sheet, mixed in Marina Mist & Bashful Blue Re-Inkers randomly to the drops & allowed to dry.  A couple I applied no colour.  I applied these to the card using Tweezers & adhered with Crystal Effects.  I also applied a couple to the eyes of both fish & one to the seahorse.

Supplies -
Stamp Set - Ocean Commotion
Ink - Bashful Blue, Marina Mist, So Saffron
Cardstock - Whisper White, So Saffron, Window Sheet
Ribbon - So Saffron - Retired
Accessories - Stampin' Dimensions, Crimper, Re-Inkers - Bashful Blue & Marina Mist,
 Crystal Effects, Sponge, Snail Adhesive,
Until next time Enjoy!

SC 03612...

Our sketch over at Sunny Challenges & Creations has been brought to us by Gwen - yep Gwen is back this week!  We only the the sketch to go by, although she has created something that I really had to think about & for the life of me nothing would come so I basically winged this & did it as I went!

Measurements -
Base Card - Early Expresso - 8 1/4" x 4 18/" or 21.5cm x 15cm - Scored in middle & folded in half
Layer 1 - Very Vanilla - 5 5/8" x 4" or 14cm x 10cm
Layer 2 - Early Expresso - 3 3/4" x 2 1/4" or 9.5cm x 5.5cm
Layer 3 - Very Vanilla - 3 5/8" x 2 1/8" or 9cm x 5cm
Layer 4 & 6 - Early Expresso - 2 3/4" x 1 3/4" or 7cm x 4.5cm
Layer 4 & 7 - Very Vanilla - 2 5/8" x 1 5/8" or 6.5cm x 4cm

I run the large piece of Very Vanilla Cardstock through the Bigshot using the Embossing Folder - Vintage Wallpaper.  I then rubbed the Tea Stain Ink Pad from the Distrissing Kit over the top & set aside.
Envelope & Inside Card...
I stamped the long piece of Very Vanilla Cardstock after inking my image in Crumb Cake & sponged a little bit of the Tea Stain Ink around the edges prior to adhering to the long piece of Early Expresso Cardstock with Snail Adhesive.  I adhered this whole piece to the LHS of the embossed piece of cardstock with Tombow Multipurpose Glue.

The 2 smaller pieces of Very Vanilla Cardstock were randomly stamped with Crumb Cake, sponged around the edges with Tea Stain Ink using SU Sponge & adhered to the 2 smaller pieces of Early Expresso Cardstock using Snail Adhesive.  Both pieces were adhered to the embossed piece with Tombow Multipurpose Glue.

The image in the middle was inked with Crumb Cake Ink, stamped onto a scrap of Very Vanilla.  The sentiment was inked with my SU! Marker - Early Expresso one by one & stamped into the stamped image one by one.  For this method, I inked one word at a time, once stamped, cleaned & repeated.  I cut the frame out & mounted with SU! Dimensionals.

The butterflies were cut using the Bigshot & Beatutiful Wings Embosslits Dies.  I usually have a heap of different colours in a small plastic container, but no Early Expresso.  I adhered the small Pearls to the middle of the butterflies prior to adhering randomly to the card with Tombow Multipurpose Glue

Pearls were adhere to the flowers prior to the whole piece being adhered to the Base Card with Tombow Multipurpose Glue.

I've just noticed I missed a couple of Pearls in the photo, but they have since been added.....

Ink - Crumb Cake, Tea Stain
Cardstock - Early Expresso, Very Vanilla
Embosslits Die - Beautiful Wings
Embossing Folder - Vintage Wallpaper

Need for Speed...

Envelope & Inside Card....
I finally purchased this great stamp set.  I have been after it for what seems like forever!

The card today was the one we did at the Community Centre.  Unfortunately I couldn't be there as I have a family wedding this weekend & it is the first time in about 15 years that my brothers & sister have all been together.

After deciding how I wanted to make my card, it sort of come together fairly quickly.

Measurements -
Base Card - So Saffron - 8 1/4" x 4 1/8" or 21.5cm - Score in the middle & fold in half
Layer 1 - Very Vanilla - 5 1/2" x 3 7/8" or 14cm x 10cm
Layer 2 - DSP - 5 1/8" x 3" or 7.5cm x 13cm - You may have to adjust this after adhering to the Very Vanilla
Layer 3 - Cherry Cobbler - 5 1/2" x 1 1/4" or 14cm x 2.5cm
Layer 4 - DSP - 5 3/8" x 1 1/8" or 13.5cm x 2cm
Layer 5 - Not Quiet Navy - 5 1/2" x 1 1/4" or 14cm x 2.5cm
Layer 6 - Cherry Cobbler - 2 1/2" x 2 1/2" or 6.5cm x 6.5cm
Layer 7 - Very Vanilla - 2 3/8" x 2 3/8"  or 6cm x 6cm

I cut the DSP into 3/4" strips & adhered them to the Very Vanilla Cardstock.  I left about 1/8" of Very Vanilla showing between the DSP strips & the top & side edges of the Very Vanilla.

I adhered the long strip of DSP to the piece of Cherry Cobbler, leaving a narrow edge aound the whole lot.  This was then adhered to the piece of Not Quyiet Navy which had been punched along one long side with the Eyelet Border Punch.
I adhered this piece to the bottom part of the Very Vanilla Cardstock with the DSP on it.  Once this was adhered, it covered the bottom part of the Very Vanilla.

I stamped the image onto the piece of Very Vanilla square in So Saffron Ink.  The bike was stamped onto a scrap piece of Very Vanilla Cardstock with Not Quiet Navy Ink & cut out.

I adhered the piece of Very Vanilla stamped image to the piece of Cherry Cobbler & adhered the bike over the top with Snail Adhesive.  The whole piece was adhered to the Base Card with SU! Dimensionals.

I stamped the greeting onto a scrap piece of Very Vanilla Cardstock in Not Quiet Navy, punched with the Large Oval Punch & adhered to a piece of Cherry Cobbler which had been punched with the Scallop Oval Punch.  This was then adhered to the Base Card with Snail Adhesive.

Supplies -
Stamp Set - Need for Speed, Sincere Salutations
Ink - Not Quiet Navy, So Saffron
Cardstock - Very Vanilla, So Saffron, Cherry Cobbler, Not Quiet Navy

Gift Card Holder...

Inside...
I found this tutorial for a Gift Card Holder over at Created by You, which is owned by the very talented Sharon Field.  It looked so interesting & lovely that I thought I would give it a go.  I've used all my new products from SAB.

Of course, I adjusted mine a little so that it could fit our standard envelopes in Australia.  since creating this one, I've played around with it a bit & did a couple of different things to it, but more about that in the next couple days.

I wanted to use the matching ribbons that come in SAB but didn't look any good on the Lucky Limeade, so back to the drawing board for me.

Supplies -
Stamp Set - Fresh Vintage, Elementary Elegance
Ink - Calyspo Coral, Soft Suede
Cardstock - Pool Party, Lucky Limeade, Very Vanilla
Embossing Folder - Square Lattice
Dies - Top Note
Ribbon - 3/8" Ruffled - Pool Party

SC 035/12...

Wishing everyone a very Happy & Safe Easter!  I hope you are all enjoying this beautiful Autumn sunshine, as it is not the norm for Easter on the coast.  Me, I am off to the beach.

Our sketch this week over at Sunny Challenges & Creations is for all the mothers out there.  Yep, with Mother's Day coming up, thought it would be great to do a card for the mum's.

I made my card a couple of weeks ago, forgot about it & created another one yesterday, but will post that during the week.  I've tried my hand at a little bit of vintage this week and am quiet happy with the result.  I am enjoying this "out of the box" for me!

Measurements -
Base Card - Pink Pirouette - 11 3/4" x  4 1/8" or 29.5cm x 10.5cm - Scored in middle & folded in half
Layer 1 - Soft Suede - 5 3/4" x 4" or 14.5cm x 10cm
Layer 2 - DSP - 3 1/2" x 3 7/8" or 9cm x 9.5cm
Layer 3 - Pink Pirouette - 2" x 4 1/8" or 10.5cm x 5cm
Layer 4 - Very Vanilla - 1 7/8" x 4" or 10cm x 4.5cm

I run the piece of Soft Suede through the Bigshot using Embossing Folder - Perfect Polka Dots, before rubbing Whisper White Ink over the top.
Inside...
Prior to adhering the DSP to the bottom of the embossed Soft Suede, I sponged around the edges with a SU Sponge Dauber using Tea Stain Distressing Ink from the Distressing Essentials Kit

The piece of Very Vanilla was run through the Bigshot using the Embossing Folder - Finial Press.  I rubbed the Tea Stain Distressing Ink over the top of the embossing & adhered to the piece of Pink Pirouette & then to the DSP.

I pulled a thread from the middle of the Ribbon so that it would gather a little & adhered along the bottom part of the DSP, tucking ends under.  Tied a small bow, wrapped a Glimmer Brad around the middle & adhered to the ribbon with a Mini Glue Dot.

I cut the butterflies using the Beautiful Wings Embosslits Dies from Soft Sude Cardstock, adhered to card using a Mini Glue Dot.  Three basic Pearls were adhered to the middle of the butterfly.

The whole piece was adhered to the Base Card with Snail Adhesive.

Why does it always sound so easy that I think I have done it in 5 minutes, when in actual fact, it sometimes takes me days to complete a card.  This one included!

Stamp Set - Nil
Ink - Tea Stain, Whisper White
Cardstock - Pink Pirouette, Soft Suede, Very Vanilla
DSP - First Edition Speciality
Embossing Folder - Finial Press, Perfect Polka Dots

Note Cards...

... are one thing I do use a lot of.  It seems everytime I turn around, I am just about out of them & find it is time to create more.

For this lot, I thought I would try something a little different.  I have been cleaning out my cardstock & putting all my bits & pieces in their rightful home, when I come across a couple of small pieces of Acetate.  So instead of tossing it out, I thought"why not".  Grabbed the Stamp Set French Foliage which was still sitting on my desk from 2 projects ago & decided to go with the Regals Collection seeing as though we are in Autumn in Australia.

For my cards I used Night of Navy, More Mustard, Cherry Cobbler, Bravo Burgundy, Elegant Eggplant, & Always Artichoke Cardstock as my outer layers.  I must apologise I don't have the measurements, as they have been used & posted.  They will fit the Australian size C6 or 11B envelopes with the coloured Cardstock measuing 5 1/2" x 3 1/2".

I randomly cut all 6 pieces of Whisper White Cardstock donw the left hand side,so that I had 2 pieces of Card & ensuring I still had room to write on the cards once they were all put together.

I randomly stamped the pieces of Acetate with Staz-On Ink.  When stamping onto Acetate, stamp very carefully so as not to let the stamp slip or slide.  I set each piece aside allowing to dry & prior to cutting.

Once dry, I cut the Acetate into 1" strips & adhered to the pieces of Whisper White Cardstock before adhering to the Coloured Cardstock.

Wow, when I read that, they would of taken me all up 5 minutes.  Believe me, they took a little longer than that!

Until next time, Happy Stampin'!

SC 03412...

Happy April's Fool!!!!!
Yep, today is April 1 & marks April Fools Day!!!  So look lout for all those pransters that you have around you or know!!!!

Today also brings the start of our weekly challenge over at Sunny Challenges & Creations & was created by Kris.  Very easy this week, so we would love to see heaps of creations posted.....

Measurements -
Base Card - Whisper White - 8 1/4" x 4 1/8" or 21cm x 15cm - Scored in the middle & folded in half
Layer 1 - Basic Black - 5 1/2" x 3 7/8" or 14cm x 10cm
Layer 2 - Whisper White - 5 5/8" x 3 3/4" or 13.5cm x 9.5cm
Layer 3 - Basic Black - 5 1/4" x 2" or 13cm x 5cm
Layer 4 - Pear Pizzazz - 3" x 3/4" or 8cm x 2.5cm
Layer 5 - Pear Pizzazz - 2 1/2" x 2 1/2" or 6.5cm x 6.5cm
Layer 6 - Whisper White - 2 3/8" x 2 3/8" or 6cm x 6cm

I did start out to use Night of Navy & Pear Pizzaz.  By the time I come to the ribbon, I realised what I had done, but by then it was too late, so I continued with it.  I quiet like like the colours together.  Do you ever do that?  I seem to do it all the time!  I did want to use more of the Pear Pizzazz Cardstock, but suddenly realised that I only had 2 small bits left to complete my card!

Envelope & Inside Card...
I run the small piece of Basic Black through the Bigshot using Embossing Folder - Vintage Wallpaper.  I repeated the same for the smaller piece of Whisper White using Embossing Folder - Perfect Polka Dots.  The embossed Basic Black was adhered to the embossed Whisper White with Tombow Glue, then to the larger piece of Basic Black before adhering to the Base Card - Whisper White.

I punched along one edge of the small piece of Pear Pizzazz using the Scallop Trim Border Punch, adhered a piece of Ribbon along the middle, tucked ends under, tied a bow & adhered to the card with Tombow Glue.

Close Up of Flower Image...
I inked my image with Pear Pizzazz Ink & for a little bit of a different look, I randomly applied my Basic Black SU! Marker to the inked image before stamping onto a scrap piece of Whisper White Cardstock.  I again stamped the image in Pear Pizzazz Ink, stamped onto the square piece of Whisper White, adhered to the square piece of Pear Pizzaz & finally to the Base Card using Tombow Glue.

I cut around the 2-coloured stamped image & adhered to the top of the stamped image using Stampin' Dimensionals.  I applied small Basic Pearls to the centres of the flowers.  I think I missed a couple, but me being me, had to fix immediately as it was annoying me!!!!!!!

Again, no sentiment.  This would be the perfect card for Mother's Day.

I really love how the flower come out & will be doing more this way.  It gives such a lovely effect to your image.
