SC 01111...

This is the first challenge for our new challenge blog - http://www.sunnychallenges.blogspot.com/

The sketch was created by the lovely & talented Gwen using the set stamp set for the week - Inspired by Nature.

For my card, I used Chocolate Chip Cardstock for the Base.  Adhered a piece of Pumpkin Pie on top, run a piece of Chocolate Chip through the Bigshot using Embossing Folder - Square Lattice & adhered to card.

I stamped my first image directly onto Very Vanilla Cardstock using Old Olive Ink.  I coloured my 2nd image using my SU Markers, stamped over the top of the first image & applied Crystal Effects to the top of the flowers to add dimensions.  This piece was adhered to Old Olive Cardstock & then to the base card.

Inside Card...

Close-Up - showing use of Crystal Effects

All in all a very easy sketch for the stamp set, but unlimited possibilities.  The colours I used for my sample are not my usual colours as I decided to go way out of my comfort zone.
I think I pulled it off.  Let me know what you think.

Celebrate You...

I am really enjoying this stamp set "Party Heary".  I hope you are not sick of it yet?  For the life of me I can't understand why I did not use it when I first received it, but hey isn't that always the way.

... With Envelope

Anyhow, this is the card we did with "Crafty Creations" at the Community Centre yesterday.  They all loved it, although we got lots of laughs working out the measurements.

After cutting & scoring my base card - Pacific Point Cardstock, I cut a piece of Real Red Cardstock & a smaller piece of DSP, wrapped a ribbon around both pieces with a knot towards the top & adhered to the base card.

I cut another piece of the DSP & adhered to the back section of the card - RHS.  I then stamped the sentiment using Real Red Ink, punched around image using Scallop Circle & adhered to a piece of Real Red Cardstock which had been punched with the Extra Large Scallop Circle.  I used my Gel Pen to apply white dots around the edge of the Real Red Circle, stuck a basic Rhinestone to the centre of the image & adhered to the DSP.

I punched 3 stars one of each in Real Red, Whisper White & Pear Pizzazz using my Large Star Punch, 4 stars in 2 x Real Red, 1 each of Bashful Blue & Pacific Point using the Small Star Punch - retired.  I adhered 3 of the smaller stars to the larger stars & run them through the Bigshot using the Embossing Folder - Square Lattice.  I cut a small piece of DSP & adhered this to the 2nd step of the base card & adhered 2 of the stars over the DSP.

For the front step, I stamped the sentiment using Pacific Point Ink onto Whisper White Cardstock, ran it through the Bigshot using Embossing Folder - Square Lattice, cut a slightly larger piece of Pear Pizzazz, attached both pieces to the base card & adhered the smaller & larger stars over the top.

Supplies -
Stamp Set - Party Hearty
Ink - Pacific Point, Real Red
Cardstock - Whisper White, Pear Pizzazz, Bashful Blue, Pacific Point
DSP - Celebrations

Sunny Challenges...

We have a new challenge beginning Sunday 31 August & will be occuring every Sunday from then on.  Gwen - http://www.gwenscardsnstampsinbloom.com/ Kris - http://www.stampingwithkris.wordpress.com/ and myself have got together to bring you this fun challenge & will be taking it in turns to host the challenge.

It promises to be a little bit different in that one of us will be providing a sketch as well as using a current Stamp Set.  To complete the challenge you will have to use this particular set & sketch.  On occasions, the stamp sets will be replaced by other SU products, eg Embossing Folders, Techniques, etc...  We are hoping this to be lots of fun.  I know we are certainly looking forward to the fun, not to mention all the beautiful creations by the very talented stampers out there in blog land.

Challenges & samples will be posted each Sunday. Our Challenge badge will be displayed on each of our blogs.  You are very welcome to display this badge on the side of your blog. Don't panic if you have never played along with a challenge - it's easy as 1 2 3!

Check back Sunday to check out the sketch, stamp set to use & the samples we will have on each of our blog.

Until next time, Enjoy!

Party Hearty...

... such a fun stamp set, the possibilities are endless.  We used this set for a Kid's Class & they absolutely loved it!  Lots of giggles & laugher.

Base Card - Real Red - 5 7/8" x 4 1/8" or 15cm x 10.5cm
Layer 1 - Whisper White - 3 3/8" x 5 3/8" or 14cm x 8.5cm

I scored & folded my card at 3 1/2" or 9cm so that I would have about 3/4" showing from the bottom.  Using Inks of Daffodil Delight, Real Red, Pacific Point, Old Olive & Pumpkin Pie, I randomly stamped the candle images along the bottom of Whisper White Cardstock.

I punched a scallop circle from Pacific Point Cardstock using the Scallop Circle Punch, adhered to the Whisper White Cardstock & placed small white dotes around the edge using my Gel Pen.  I then punched a piece of Whisper White Cardstock using Large Circle Punch & adhered it to the scallop circle.

The Whisper White Cardstock was put through the Bigshot using Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder.  I run Pumpkin Pie Grosgrain Ribbon along the top of the candles, tied a bow & adhered to the Base Card.  I stamped the sentiment directly onto Whisper White Cardstock using Chocolate Chip Ink, cut around the edge & adhered to a piece of Pacific Point scalloped square which had been punched using my Scallop Square Extra Large Punch.  I again placed small white dots around the edge using the Gel Pen

I stamped 2 cupcake images directly onto a piece of Whisper White Cardstock using Chocolate Chip & Daffodil Delight.  I cut both images using the Chocolate Chip for the bottom & Daffodil Delight for the top.  The bottom was adhered directly to the Whisper White circle, while the top of the cake was adhered using SU Dimensionals.  I adhered Rhinestones over the top which I had coloured using a permanent red marker.

I stamped 3 candle images directly onto Whisper White using Old Olive, Real Red & Daffodil Delight Inks, cut them out & adhered to the side of the greeting.

For the inside I randomly stamped images onto Whisper White Cardstock, punched a piece of DSP using Scallop Edge Border Punch & adhered to the bottom of the Whisper White.  This was the adhered to the Base Card.

Looks light a lot of work, but in reality not that much!

SSC213...

Today's card is taken from the sketch over at Stamping 411 I immediately thought of this set when first seeing the sketch.

Once again, the lovely operators have provided us with measurements -

Base 8 1/2" x 11", scored and folded in half at 5 1/2"
Layer 2: 5 1/4" x 4"
Layer 3: 3 1/4" x 4"
Layer 4: 2" x 4"
Layer 5: 1" x 4"
Layer 6: some potential shape
Layers 7, any punched shapes or embellishments.. Just use your imagination!

For my card, I adhered my piece of DSP to Bashful Blue Cardstock.  I run Whisper White through my Bigshot using the Embossing Folder - Perfect Polka Dots and adhered it to the top of the Bashful Blue Cardstock.

I punched a piece of Real Red Cardstock using my Eyelet Border Punch, added a piece of Early Expresso Grosgrain Ribbon along the middle & adhered to the middle of the card.  The whole piece was then adhered to my Base Card - Pear Pizzazz Cardstock.

Using Chocolate Chip Ink, I stamped the sentiment directly onto Whisper White Cardstock, punched a piece of Real Red Cardstock using my Decorative Label Punch, cut this in half & layered the Whisper White over the top allowing the Real Red edge to show on both top & bottom.

With Chocolate Chip Ink, I stamped the cupcake image, cut the bottom out & adhered to the card, using SU Dimensionals.  I repeated this same step, except using Bashful Blue Ink & cutting the top of the cupcake.  This was adhered to the card using SU Dimensionals.  I applied Rhinestones to the top of the cupcake.

Stamp Set - Party Hearty, After Thoughts (Hotstess Level 1)
Ink - Chocolate Chip, Bashful Blue
Cardstock - Real Red, Whisper White, Pear Pizzazz
DSP - Celebrations

TSSC183...

I can't believe the roll I have been on - will it last?????

This card has been created for 2 challenges, the sketch over at Mary-Jo's Blog which is a Blog Hop.  The other is from Handstamped Sentiments which is a theme - Summer.  I know it is hard to imagine summer here in Australia at the moment, but I did use paper & stamps from a past Mini, which I thought suited the challenge well.

Base Card - Old Olive - 5 7/8" x 4 1/8" or 15cm c 10.5cm
Layer 1 - DSP - 5 3/4" x 4" or 14.5cm x 10cm
Layer 2 - Tempting Turquoise - 4 1/2" x 3" or 11.5cm x 7.5cm
Layer 3 - Old Olive - 4 3/8" x 2 7/8" or 11cm x 7cm
Layer 4 - Tempting Turquoise - 3 3/8" x 2" or 9cm x 5cm
Layer 5 - Whisper White - 3 1/4" x 1 7/8" or 8.5cm x 4.5cm

I stamped images directly onto the Whisper White Cardstock, using Old Olive Ink & adhered to the piece of Tempting Turquoise.  I did stamp off a couple of times for some of the images.  For my sentiment, I used Early Expresso Ink.

I run the piece of Old Olive Cardstock through my Bigshot using the Embossing Folder - Square Lattice.  It reminds me of  Bamboo & Thatching, so thought it very appropriate.  This was then adhered to Tempting Turquoise, to the DSP & then to the Base Card - Old Olive.

I stamped my flower onto a piece of Whisper White Cardstock using Daffodil Delight Ink, cut it out & adhered using a SU Dimensional.  After stamping my inside, I then decided that the front looked a bit "Yuh" so I then stamped 2 smaller flowers using Tempting Turquoise Ink.  I adhered these using SU Dimensionals.  It bought the whole card alive.  Much happier.  I added 3 Rhinestones to the center of the flowers.

Supplies -
Stamp Set - Tropical Pary, So Happy for You
Inks - Tempting Turquoise, Daffodil Delight, Early Expresso
Cardstock - Tempting Turquoise, Whisper White, Old Olive
DSP - Island Oasis
Embossing Folder - Square Lattice
Accessories - SU Dimensionals, Rhinestones, Multipurpose Glue, Bigshot

Until next time, Enjoy!

SFF071511...

I found this sketch over at Sketch Frenzy Friday & immediatly thought of Fifth Avenue Floral & Great Friend.  This is one of my favourites, but then I think most of my sets are, including ones I don't have - lol.

Base Card - Rich Razzleberry - 4 7/8" x 4 1/4" or 15cm x 10.5cm
Layer 1 - Old OLive - 4 3/4" x 4" or 14.5cm x 10cm
Layer 2 - Whisper White - 4 5/8" x 9.5cm
Layer 3 - Old Olive - 4 5/8" x 1" or 9.5cm x 2.5cm

Using Inks of Rich Razzleberry & Old Olive, I randomly stamped 2 different images onto a piece of Whisper White Cardstock.  I then adhered the small piece of  Old Olive Cardstock down the LHS of the Whisper White, layered a piece of Pumpkin Pie Satin Ribbon down the middle, followerd by a piece of Rich Razzleberry Grosgrain Ribbon on top of that & tied a bow towards the top.

Inside Card

I stamped the sentiment using Rich Razzleberry & adhered to Old Olive Cardstock which had been punched using my Modern Label Extra Large Punch.  I adhered to the top RHS of the card using SU Dimensionals.

I punched a piece of Whisper White Cardstock using my 1 3/4" Extra Large Circle Punch & with Old Olive Ink, stamped some leaf images.  I also stamped off while doing these too.  This was adhered to a piece of Pumpkin Pie Cardstock which had been punched using my Extra Large Scallop Circle Punch. For the white dots, I did these with my Gel Pen.

I stamped 2 butterfly images onto Whisper White Cardstock using Rich Razzleberry Ink, cut them out , applied a couple of Basic Rhinestones down the middle, curled them a little & adhered to the circle using SU Dimensionals.  I also added a couple of Rhinestones to the words in my sentiment.

These are colours I don't usually go for, but I am trying to think outside the box a little.  Mind you, I don't know how long it will last, but am quiet enjoying the different colours for the moment.

Supplies -
Stamp Set - 5th Avenue Floral, Great Friend
Ink - Old Olive, Rich Razzleberry
Cardstock - Whisper White, Rich Razzleberry, Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie
Ribbon - 5/8" Satin - Pumpkin Pie, 1/4" Grosgrain - Rich Razzleberry
Punches - 1 3/4 " Extra Large Circle, Extra Large Scallop Circle, Modern Label Extra Large
Accessories - SU Dimensionals, Tombow Multipurpose Glue, Basic Rhinestones, Gel Pen

Until next time, Enjoy!

Challenge 130...

Today's card is for the challenge over on my Yahoo Group.  It calls for members to use new stuff from the new catalogue.  The states have their new catalogue, but here in Oz, we don't get ours until 1 September.
Inside card...

I purchsed the stamp I am using for this challenge sometime ago, but never gotten round to using it.  Mind you I have seen some beautiful creations with this stamp.  It is in our current Mini-Catalogue.  With my card, I went away from the traditional nautical colours.  My inspiration comes from a box in the current Catalogue.

Base Card - Crumb Cake 4 7/8" x 4 1/8" or 15cm x 10.5cm
Layer 1 - Crumb Cake - 5" x 3" or 12.5cm x 9cm
Layer 2 - Basic Black - 2 3/4" x 2 1/2" or 9cm x 7cm
Layer 3 - Tangerine Tango - 2 5/8" x 2 3/8" or 8.5cm x 6.5cm
Layer 4 - Whisper White - 2 1/2" x 2 1/4" x 8cm x 6cm

I stamped my image directly onto Whisper White using Crumb Cake Ink, adhered to Tangerine Tango & then to Basic Black.  For the smaller piece of Crumb Cake Cardstock, I run this through my Bigshot using the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder

I adhered So Saffron Grosgrain Ribbon along the bottom of the embossed piece of Crumb Cake, tied a knot, adhered the stamped piece to the embossed piece & adhered the whole piece to the base card!

In the photo the embossed piece is not able to be seen very clearly, but it gives a lovely effect.

Supplies -
Stamp Set - Sail Away
Ink - Crumb Cake
Cardstock - Crumb Cake, Tangerine Tango, Whisper White, Basic Black
Ribbon - 5/8" Grosgrain Ribbon - So Saffron (Retired)
Embossing Folder - Perfect Polka Dots
Accessories - Snail Adhesive, Bigshot

Until next time, Enjoy!

Challenge 129...

This is the picture for the Challenge at Late Night Stampers.  When I saw this picture it reminded me of the Barrier Reef & the colours of the coral & ocean found along it.  I think it also called for a CAS Card - Clean & Simple.  I have tried to capture what I first saw in the photo, but am not too sure if I succeeded.  Let me know your thoughts.....

Base Card - Whisper White - 4 7/8" x 4 1/4" or 15cm x 10.5cm
Layer 1 - Marina Mist - 5" x 3 1/4" or 13cm x 8.5vm
Layer 2 - Whisper White - 4 7/8" x 3 1/8" or 12.5cm x 8cm

For one of the images, I inked it using my SU Markers - Pear Pizzazz, Daffodil Delight & Tangerine Tango.  I stamped directly onto Whisper White Cardstock.  The remainder of the images, I used Tangerine Tango, Daffodil Delight & Pear Pizzazz Inks.  I stamped direct onto Whisper White.  The sentiment was inked in Marina Mist Ink & again, direct onto Whisper White.

Once all stamping was completed, I ran it through the Bigshot using my Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder & adhered to the Marina Mist Cardstock.  This was then adhered to the Base Card - Whisper White.

I don't think it could get any easier.  Sometimes, I find if I keep to my favourite - CAS - then I am a lot happier than using a lot of supplies on one card.

Supplies -
Stamp Set - Pocket Silhouettes
Ink - Tangerine Tango, Pear Pizzazz, Marina Mist, Daffodil Delight
Cardstock - Whisper White, Marina Mist
Embossing Folder - Perfect Polka Dots
Accessories - Snail Adhesive, Bigshot, SU Markers

Until next time, Enjoy!

TSSC 182...

While having all my craft stuff out from yesterday, thought I would attempt another chlallenge.  This is the one from Techno Stamper and it is a Blog Hop.  Click directly onto the cards & you will be taken to the link.  I've used a Stamp Set which I have not used as often as I should.  In fact, I think it has been out of its box just the once.

Base Card - Pear Pizzazz - 4 7/8" x 4 1/8" or 15cm x 10cm
Layer 1 - Very Vanilla - 4 3/4" x 4" or 14.5cm x 9.5cm
Layer 2 - DSP - 4 5/8" x 3 7/8" or 14cm x 9cm
Layers 3 & 4 - DSP - 7/8" x 3 7/8" or 2cm x 9cm
Layer 5 - Ribbon - Grosgrain
Layer 6 - Early Expresso - Oval
Layer 7 - Very Vanilla - Oval

I adhered te short pieces of DSP to the larger piece of DSP ensuring the placement was as per the sketch.  I then adhered my Ribbon to the bottom & tied a knot.

I cut 2 ovals using my Bigshot & Ovals Die - one in Very Vanilla & a bigger one in Early Expresso.  I inked the image in Pear Pizzazz & stamped it directly onto the Very Vanilla.  I inked the 2nd image using Early Expresso & stamped over the Pear Pizzazz image & adhered to the Early Expresso Oval.  This was then placed onto the DSP using SU Dimensionals.

The whole lot was then adhered to the base card - Pear Pizzazz.  Again, no sentiment!

Supplies -
Stamp Set - Pendant Park
Inks - Early Expresso, Pear Pizzazz
Cardstock - Pear Pizzazz, Early Expresso, Very Vanilla
DSP - Greenhouse Gala
Dies - Ovals
Ribbon - Grosgrain - Early Expresso
Accessories - Bigshot, SU Dimensionals, Snail Adhesive

Until next time, Enjoy!

Crimping...

I created this card a couple of weeks ago but didn't get round to posting it.  I remember seeing this card ages ago & it has always stuck in my mind.  It has been CASEd from another SU Demonstrator, whose names slips my mind as her details were not on the card.  Once I find out, I will give her the much credit she deserves as it is a beautiful creation.  I changed mine using the colours of Concord Crush & Not Quiet Navy.

It is such a long long time since I last used my Crimper.  A technique long past revisiting.

After sealing my envelope, I cut it about 1 1/2" or 4cm from top - shorter side.  Ink your image using Concord Crush Ink & stamp image onto bottom part of envelope.  Stamp 2nd image again using Concrush Crush Ink & randomly stamp around the edges of your card - top & bottom.  For the top, I also stamped off a couple of times, just to give it another look.

I sponged around the edges of both top & bottom using my SU Sponge & Concord Crush Ink.  Are you sick of Concord Crush yet?????  I wrapped Satin Ribbon - Not Quiet Navy around the top part of the envelope & tied a bow off centre at the front.

These instructions sound very familiar that I could have sworn that I had posted this, but after searching my blog high & low, no result!  So on with the story....

Placing the bottom half of the card into the Crimper sideways, I proceeded to put it through the Crimper.
I stamped my greeting onto a piece of Whisper White Cardstock in Not Quiet Navy - yep, I've changed colours......  Punched the greeting out using my Large Oval Punch, sponged around the edges with Not Quiet Navy, adhered to card with a SU Dimensional & placed a small Pearl in the center of the greeting, as well as a larger Pearl to the centre of the Medallion Stamp.

For the inside, I cut a piece of Concord Crush Cardstock - 4 1/2" x 4" or 11.5cm x 10cm.  I cut another piece using Whisper White Cardstock - 4 3/8" x 3 7/8" or 11cm x 9.5cm.  I stamped my image using Not Quiet Navy Ink, sponged the edges in the same colour & adhered to the Concord Crush Cardstock.  I placed a couple of small Pearls to the centre of the flowers.

All in all a really lovely creative card using a techinque which has been around for yonks, but not seen that much now.  It is still one of my favourites & probably always will be.  Note to self - start using Crimper more often!

Supplies -
Stamp Set - Medallion, Just Believe, Oval All
Cardstock - Whisper White, Concord Crush
Ink - Not Quiet Navy, Concord Crush
Punches - Large Oval
Ribbon - Satin - Not Quiet Navy
Accessories - Crimper, SU Envelope, Snail Adhesive, Basic Pearls, SU Sponge, SU Dimensionals

Until next time, Enjoy!

SFF070811

At the Community Centre this arvo, we will be making this card.  I have actually taken the sketch from Sketch Frenzy Friday & thought it would be a very easy layout to complete while at the same time teach a new technique - Faux Tiles, as well as Water Colouring.  This is such an esay technique.  Check back tomorrow & I will have the tutorial on how I did the tiles.

Anyhow, on with the card -

Base Card - Pear Pizzazz - 5 7/8" x 4 1/8" or 15cm x 10cm
Layer 1 - DSP - 5 3/4" x 4" or 14.5cm x 9.5cm
Layer 2 - Rich Razzleberry - 3" x 3 1/2" or 8cm x 9cm
Layer 3 - Whisper White - 2 7/8" x 3 1/8" or 7.5cm x 8.5cm

Inside of Card

I stamped my image directly onto the Whisper White Cardstock, using my Aqua Painter, proceeded to colour image with Pear Pizzaz Ink.  Once dried, I scored the card in a tile pattern - gaps will appear where your scorelines are.  This was adhered to the piece of Rich Razzleberry Cardstock.  It has been soooooo long since I have used this colour that I am finding it a very refreshing change.

The piece was adhered to the RHS side of the DSP, Rich Razzleberry Grosgrain Ribbon attached - again with the Rich Razzleberry - across the bottom half of the DSP & the whole piece  adhered to the base card - Pear Pizzazz.

Close Up of Tile Effect

I stamped a flower image onto a piece of scrap Whisper White using Rich Razzleberry Ink, coloured with my Aqua Painter, cut it out & applied to the card using a SU Dimensional.

I hope the operators will forgive me, but I didn't stamp a sentiment.  I love to stamp these onto my card when I know what I want my card to be used for.

Supplies -
Stamp Set - Growing Green
Ink - Rich razzleberry, Pear Pizzazz
Cardstock - Whisper White, Pear Pizzazz, Rich Razzleberry
DSP - Greenhouse Gala
Ribbon - Grosgrain Ribbon - Rich Razzleberry
Accessories - Snail Adhesive, Aqua Painter, SU Dimensionals

Until next time, Enjoy!
