Swallowtail...

In one of Technique Classes last month, we used the great stamp set "Swallowtail" & applied it to the technique - "Split Negative".

I was really happy with the way this card turned out, as it is a little different to what I've seen using this technique.  I wanted to try a couple of non-traditional colours instead of the black & white that is usually the ones used for this technique.

Today's card is one with a bit of a surprise inside.

Stamp Set - Swallowtail - 129216, Express Yourself (Hostess) - 129216, Papillon Potpourri - 123759

Ink - Pink Pirouette - 126956, Sahara Sand - 126976
Punches - Modern Label - 119849, Word Window - 119857, Bitty Butterfly - 129406, Elegant Butterfly - 127526, Scallop Edge Border - 119882
Dies - Top Note - 113463
Embossing Folder - Perfect Polka Dots - 117335
Accessories - Simply Scoring Tool - 122334, Pearls - 119247, Snail Adhesive - 104332, Sticky Strip - 104294, Stampin' Dimensionals - 104430

Pleated Skirts....

I am so far behind in my posts that I think I have enough cards to post for the next couple of months without adding any extras I've created in between posts.  Where does the time go????

Our card today is one we created sometime ago in Crafty Creations.  As most of the ladies have either a Big Shot or Cuttlebug, once a month, we concentrate on these products.  It is usually a great way for them to learn how to use their tools.  Included in this class we also concentrated on the Technique - Chalks or Pastels, including learning how to create a pleated skirt from paper.

I let the ladies know what we will be creating each week & what to bring along if they want.  This way, they are using the "stuff" they may have & familiarising themselves with their own "stuff".  I took along a number of different Embossing Folders for the ladies who don't have a machine or Folders.

I think this is another card I saw on Pinterest, but am not that sure.  Please let me know if you recognise it, as I would love to give you credit for the inspiration.

Friday's Card.....

... has been created using yet another retired Stamp Set from Stampin' Up!  In fact I've used 2!  I lov e it when I can use some of my Retired Sets.  In fact, one of them had never been used, while a couple of the images from Artfully Asian had only seen ink once.

Inside Card...
I must admit I saw this card some time ago while surfing the internet & as usual I didn't save it but filed it in my brain.  I'm not even sure if I have created it the way I remember it, but hopefully the ladies in my volunteer Friday class will enjoy creating it.

After some deliberation, I decided to use my Stampin' Write Markers to colour the delicate flowers.  I was very careful not to spread the ink from Early Expresso around & mix it with the Markers.

To take away the blank canvas a little more & to bring the flowers to life, I then added tiny Pearls to the centres as well as randomly over the card.

Embossed Papaya Collage.....

I'm a little late in posting this which means the challenge is probably over.  I have been unable to post photos to my blog.  Have all the information entered but no photos - but I think I have finally found a way, fingers crossed.  If this works, then I can actually catch up with my posts.

This week, I found a little time to play along with a challenge.  It seems like forever that I've played along with any challenges.  It also come at the right time as I needed a card for a birthday that is coming up in the next couple of weeks.

The challenge is over at Paper Craft Crew Challenge   Be sure to pop on over & play along if you get the chance.

Cardstock - Whisper White, Tempting Turquoise

SC 067/12....

What a great challenge we were set this week over at Sunny Challenges & Creations.  All we have to do is create a Shaker Card - NO layout!!!!!  If you are like me, then I haven't created one for so long that I can't remember the last time I did one.

Measurements -
Base Card - Chocolate Chip - 8 1/4" x 4 1/8" or 21cm x 15cm
Layer 1 - Cherry Cobbler - 5 5/8" x 3 7/8" or 14.5cm x 10cm
Layer 2 - DSP - 5 1/2" x 3 3/4" or 14cm x 9.5cm
Layer 3 - Chocolate Chip - 3 1/4" x 3 1/4" or 8.5cm x 8.5cm
Layer 4 - Very Vanilla - 3 1/8" x 3 1/8" or 8cm x 8cm
Layer 5 - Window Sheet or Acetate - 3 1/8" x 3 1/8" or 8cm x 8cm

Supplies -
Stamp Set - Petite Pairs, Nature Walk
Ink - Chocolate Chip
Cardstock - Chocolate Chip, Cherry Cobbler, Very Vanilla
DSP - First Edition Speciality
Ribbon - 1/2" Seam Binding - Cherry Cobbler, Crochet Trim - Victoria
Punches - 2 1/2" Circle
Accessories - Snail Adhesive, Stampin' Dimensionals, Sticky Strip, Glimmer Brad - Champagne, Glass Stampin' Glitter - Gold (Retired), Stampin' Markers - Marina Mist & Old Olive, Mini Glue Dots

I randomly stamped images over the DSP with Chocolate Chip Ink, prior to adhering to the Cherry Cobbler Cardstock.  I ran a piece of Cherry Cobbler Ribbon across the middle, tucked ends under & adhered to the Base Card with Snail Adhesive.

For my window, I inked my image with Stampin' Markers - Old Olive & Marina Mist, stamped direct onto Very Vanilla, inked my sentiment in Chocolate Chip Ink & stamped onto the same piece of Very Vanilla Cardstock.  I placed my images onto the Cardstock, so that they would be able to be seen once I had adhered the top piece of Chocolate Chip Cardstock.

As I didn't have any Double Sided Mounting Tape, I made my own.  I applied Sticky Strip all around the outer edge of my stamped piece of Very Vanilla Cardstock, ensuring that all sides were covered.  I cut 2 pieces of thick Cardboard - from the Glitter Paper - & adhered to the tops of the Sticky Strip, ensuring that all areas were covered as I didn't want any pieces of the glitter to escape, applied another layer of Sticky Strip, carefully poured Glitter onto my image - not too much as you don't want it to take over - punched a circle into the middle of the Chocolate Chip Cardstock with the 2 1/2" Circle Punch, adhered the Window Sheet to the wrong side & then finally to the top of the Sticky Strip.  I applied Stampin' Dimensionals to the back of this piece & adhered to the card.

I tied a bow with the Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding, found 2 small pieces of Crochet Trim that happen to be in the same container as my Ribbon & decided to use them as well.  A Glimmer Brad was attached to the middle & finally adhered to the card with Mini Glue Dots.

We hope you will jon us this week for this fun challenge.  Head over to Sunny Challenges & Creations to chek out what both Kris & Vicki have created, create your project, post to your blog or on line group & then link back with Mr Linky.  We would love to see your creation!

Have a great week

Class....

Our card last Friday at Crafty Creations was to do the Technique - Basic Masking.  I choice to go with Chocolate Chip, Certainly Celery & Pink Pirouette- not colours I would normally put together, but I am really loving the final result.  Mind you, when I started the card, I had no idea where I was going, only knowing that I wanted to use the stamps I had sitting on my desk.

Inside Card....
I am also finding myself going back to the softer colours which I think are sadly being neglected - by me anyhow!

Measurements -
Base Card - Chocolate Chip - 8 1/4" x 5 7/8" or 21cm x 15cm
Layer 1 - Certainly Celery - 5 3/8" x 3 5/8" or 14cm x 9.5cm
Layer 2 - DSP - 5 1/8" x 3 3/8" or 13cm x 8.5cm
Layer 3 - Pink Pirouette - 3" x 2" or 8cm x 5cm
Layer 4 - Certainly Celery - 3" x 2 3/8" or 7.5cm x 6cm
Layer 5 - Whisper White - 2 7/8" x 2 1/4" or 7cm x 5.5cm

Supplies -
Stamp Set - Summer Solstice, En Francis, Short & Sweet
Ink - Chocolate Chip, Pink Pirouette, Certainly Celery
Cardstock - Whisper White, Chocoate Chip, Pink Pirouette, Certainly Celery, Glossy
DSP - Neutrals Designer Series Paper
Ribbon - 5/8" Satin - Certainly Celery
Accessories - Snail Adhesive, 2-Way Glue Pen, Dazzling Diamonds, Stampin' Dimensionals, Rhinestones, Sponge, Dotto, Mni-Glue Dots

I adhered a piece of Ribbon across the middle of the DSP, tucked ends under, adhered to the piece of Certainly Celery & finally to the Base Card - Chocolate Chip, all with Snail Adhesive.
The piece of Pink Pirouette Cardstock was torn along the bottom, sponged across the tear & around the edges & adheredd over the top of the Ribbon using Snail Adhesive.

I stamped my flower image onto the piece of Whisper White Cardstock with Pink Pirouette Ink, stamped again onto a scrap piece of paper, cut it out & used this one piece for my Mask.  While the stamp was inked in Pink Pirouette, I again stamped onto a scrap piece of Glossy Cardstock, cut out & set aside.  This was by accident as I didn't realise it was glossy until I was cutting it out, but decided to leave it the way it was.

I stamped the leaf images around the flower & created 2 Masks for the leaves.

After applying Dotto to the back of my Masks, I adhered them over the matching images prior to inking my background stamp in Chocolate Chip, stamping off twice & then stamping onto the piece of Whisper White Cardstock & over the masked images.

This piece was adhered to the piece of Certainly Celery & finally to the Base Card.  I adhered the Glossy image to the top of the stamped image with Stampin' Dimensionals, added some Dazzling Diamonds to the middle with my 2-Way Glue Pen & popped a Rhinestone in the middle.

I tied a bow with the Ribbon & adhered to the card with a Mini Glue Dot.  The sentiment was stamped onto the bottom of the piece of Pink Pirouette in Chocolate Chip Ink.

Until next time, have a great day!

SC 04612...

Do you ever have a hard time trying to create something?  You know what you want in your head but putting it down on paper can be something entirely different. I really had no idea where I was going with this card when I started, but kept plugging along, playing with colours, checking out stamp sets & working out what will look best with what....

I also decided to go back to the colours when I started out with Stampin' Up!

This week's challenge has been bought to us by Gwen.  It is to create a Centre Fold Card using the sketch provided.

Measurements -
Base Card - Certainly Celery - 8 1/4" x 4 1/8" or 21cm x 15cm - Scored at 2 1/8" & 6 1/8" & folded towards the middle on both sides
Layer 1 x 2 - Not Quite Navy - 2" x 5 5/8" or 5cm x 14.5cm
Layer 2 x 2 - Whisper White - 1 7/8" x 5 1/2" or 4.5cm x 14cm
Layer 3 - Bashful Blue - 3 1/8" x 2 1/2" or 8cm x 6.5cm
Layer 4 - So Saffron - 3" x 2 3/8" or 7.5cm x 6cm
Layer 5 - Whisper White - 2 7/8" x 2 1/4" or 7cm x 5.5cm

Supplies -
Stamp Set - Pocket Silhouettes, Short & Sweet
Ink - Bashful Blue, So Saffron, Not Quite Navy, Certainly Celery
Cardstock - Whisper White, Bashful Blue, So Saffron, Certainly Celery, Not Quite Navy
Embossing Folder - Square Lattice
Punches - Scallop Edge Border
Accessories - Snail Adhesive, Multipurpose Glue, Bigshot

Prior to running the pieces of Whisper White Cardstock through the Bigshot, I randomly inked the Embossing Folder - Square Lattice with So Saffron, Bashful Blue & Certainly Celery Inks & sprayed water over the ink.  When doing this, ensure you have the card facing down onto the embossed side of the folder.  Let dry.

I randomly stamped my images onto the smaller piece of Whisper White Cardstock using Certainly Celery, So Saffron & Bashful Blue Inks.  The sentiment was stamped in Not Quite Navy Ink.

This piece was adhered to the piece of So Saffron Cardstock & then Bashful Blue Cardstock with Snail Adhesive.  I punched a scrap piece of Certainly Celery Cardstock with the Scallop Edge Border Punch before adhering to the bottom of the stamped Whisper White Cardstock with Snail Adhesive.

The 2 pieces of embossed Whisper White Cardstock were adhered to the pieces of Not Quite Navy using Multipurpose Glue & then to either side of the Certainly Celery Base Card with Snail Adhesive.

The small stamped images were adhered to the LHS of the card with Multipurpose Glue.

Don't forget to head over to Sunny Challenges & Creations to see what Gwen, Kris, as well as our Weekly Guest Designer who has been very busy & created 2 gorgeous cards.

Butterflies & Bows....

G'Day Bloggers,

Today's card is one which we created at my Volunteer Class last Friday.  We had so much fun doing this card & seeing all our pretty butterflies come to life from a small piece of paper.

Thanks to Naomi who gave us the template to achieve our butterfly.  She got it from an old card of her mum's & has kept it to play around with & as a lovely memory.  It was so kind of her to share it with us.

Measurements -
Base Card - Very Vanilla - 8 1/4" x 4 1/8" or 21cm x 15cm - Scored in the middle & folded in half
Layer 1 - Soft Suede - 5 1/4" x 3 5/8" or 13.5cm x 9.5cm
Layer 2 - DSP - 1 3/8" x 5 1/8" or 3.5cm x 9cm
Layer 3, 4 & 5 - DSP - 1 1/2" x 2" or 5cm x 4cm
Layer 6 - Soft Suede - 3 5/8" x 3 5/8" or 7cm x 7cm
Layer 7 - Very Vanilla - 3 1/2" x 3 1/2" or 6.5cm x 6.5cm

Supplies -
Stamp Set - Fresh Vintage, Short & Sweet
Ink - Soft Suede
Cardstock - Very Vanilla, Soft Suede
DSP - Everyday Enchantment
Ribbon - 3/8" Ruffled - Calypso Coral
Embossing Folder - Elegant Lines
Accessories - Stampin' Dimensionals, Snail Adhesive, Mini Glue Dots, Multipurpose Glue, Brad, Sponge
Non-SU - Gold Wire

Complete your Butterfly & set aside until your card has been completed.

Adhere all pieces of DSP to the piece of Soft Suede Cardstock ensuring you leave about 1/8" edge around all pieces.  Don't worry about where all pieces meet at the top, as this is covered by the piece of Ruffled Ribbon which is adhered using Snail Adhesive & ends tucked under.

Emboss the smaller piece of Very Vanilla Cardstock with the Embossing Folder - Elegant Lines & the Bigshot.  Adhere this piece to the piece of Soft Suede Cardstock with Multipurpose Glue, prior to adhering over the top of the DSP with Stampin'  Dimensionals.

Adhere the whole piece to the Base Card - Very Vanilla with Snail Adhesive.

Adhere your Butterfly to the Card, tie a bow with the Ruffle Ribbon, add a Brad to the centre & adhere both the bow & butterfly to the card using Mini Glue Dots.

Stamp your greeting onto a scrap of Very Vanilla Cardstock with Soft Suede Ink, cut into a Banner shape, sponge around the edges in Soft Suede & adhere to Card with Snail Adhesive.

This was a fun card to create & the ladies created some very lovely cards & butterflies.

Until next time, Happy Stampin'

Technique Class...

I've suddenly realised I haven't been posting our cards we have been creating in the Technique Class which is held every second Sunday at the Caloundra Community Centre.  In this class we created 2 cards using the technique, although they may be slightly variations from card to card.

Today's card was held a couple of weeks ago now, but still think it a beautiful card.  The inspiration for the card came from our current catalogue.  The Technique we used was Black Magic.....

I know what you are syaing "Why would I do green flowers?"  Yep, I thought the same.  I used a yellow on the flowers, but because of dark Cardstock & the Old Olive Cardstock used for the Base Card, over about an hour or so, the colour slowly turned to green.

I know, going mad, you say.  Well I had convinced myself that I used a green pencil to colour, but much to my relief the same thing happened to the ladies in the class.....

Don't forget to pop back in a couple of days & I will show you the 2nd card we created using the same fun technique.

Until next time, Happy Stampin'

SC 042/12...

It was my turn to create the challenge over at Sunny Challenges & Creations.  Along with the sketch, we had to use the Technique - Baby Wipe.

I started out with something completely different in mind & when I couldn't get my mind onto paper, I sort of winged this one, but am more than happy with the end result.  As I love Pink & Black, I decided to create something a little softer with a lighter pink, but still teaming it with Black.  I also kept the card to a minimum as I wanted the technique to be the focal point.

Measurements -
Base Card - Whisper White - 8 1/4" x 4 1/8" or 21cm x 15cm - Scored in the middle & folded in half
Layer 1 - Basic Black - 5 1/8" x 3 5/8" or 13cm x 9.5cm
Layer 2 - Glossy Cardstock - 5" x 5 1/2" or 12.5cm x 9cm

Inside Card...

Supplies -
Stamp Set - Flower Fancy, Short & Sweet
Ink - Staz-On - Black
Cardstock  - Whisper White, Basic Black, Glossy, Pretty in Pink
Punches - Modern Label, Word Window, 1/16" Circle Handheld
Ribbon - 1/8" Taffeta - Pretty in Pink
Embossing Folder - Perfect Polka Dots
Accessories - Snail Adhesive, Tombow Multipurpose, Re-Inker - Pretty in Pink, Basic Pearl, Bigshot
Non-SU - Wet Ones

After I had applied my technique to my piece of Glossy Cardstock using Pretty in Pink Re-Inker & a Wet Ones, I stamped my image in the bottom LH corner of the cardstock with Black Staz-On.  I was going to colour it using the same Re-Inker, but thought I would leave it how it is & keep it very simple.  I then run the piece through the Bigshot using Embossing Folder - Prefect Polka Dots.

I made a ink pad from the same Wet Ones I had previously used, using Pretty in Pink Re-Inker, inked my greeting & stamped direct onto a scrap piece of Glossy Cardstock.  This was punched out with the Word Window Punch & adhered to a piece of Basic Black Cardstock which had been punched with the Modern Label Punch.  I then punched a small hole in each end of the Basic Black Label with the 1/16" Handheld Punch, threaded a piece of Pretty in Pink Taffeta Ribbon through, tucked the ends under & adhered to the piece of Basic Black Cardstock with Tombow Multipurpose Glue.

The whole piece was then adhered to the Base Card - Whisper White with Snail Adhesive.  I popped a Basic Pearl to the middle of the flower to finish the card.

I would really like to know what you think?  Is it too plain????

Don't forget to pop on over to Sunny Challenges & Creations to check out what Kris, Tanya, Gwen & our Weekly Guest Designers have created.

Until next time, Happy Stampin!
