Recipe Friday...

On the last Friday of the month, we create 1 or 2 pages for our Recipe Book.  Today's page has been inspired by Mary Brown.  I think she created her card some time ago, but I loved the layout & colours she used.  I've turned it into a Recipe Page with a few minor changes.

Our recipe comes from Noreen's Kitchen this month with her Grandma's Biscuits.  Who doesn't love Nana's cooking - I know I did.  My Nana used to make the most yummiest pastry & my favourite was Apricot Tart - still is!  Of course, no-one else can make it the same way she did!

Supplies -
Stamp Set - French Foliage
Ink - Cherry Cobbler, More Mustard, Basic Black
Cardstock - Very Vanilla, More Mustard, Cherry Cobbler
DSP - Designer Series Pack - Neutrals
Ribbon - 1/4" Grosgrain - Basic Black
Punch - Eyelet Border
Accessories - Snail Adhesive, Mini Glue Dots, Tombow, Rhinestone Brad - Crystal

For those of you who emailed requesting a copy of the recipes, here is today's -

If you get around to baking them, please let me know how they are as I've stated earlier, I am NO a cook or chef!!!!!

Until next time, Happy Bakin!

SC 033/12...

Wow, the challenge this week over at Sunny Challenges & Creations is really out of my comfort sone, to say the least!  I am really very happy with the result & LOVE "Distressing"!
Yep, this week our challenge has been brought to us by Libby.  Along with the sketch, we had to use the Technique - Distressing.  This technique is able to be created using many different ways.

Below are a couple of hints –
· Gently rub a distressing ink pad with a sponge and rub ink around the edges of paper
· Brush ink with a direct-to-paper technique (brush ink pad directly onto surface of paper with gentle strokes)
· Crumple paper, flatten, and rub distress inks on paper.  Paper can be sprayed with water and dried a heat tool to set
· Sand the surfaces of your card stock to achieve an antique effect

Envelope & Inside Card...
Any of these techniques will give you an antique or vintage look which can vary with the colour and ink you use and how much you apply to the paper.

As soon as Libby set us this task, my mind went racing & immediately knew what colours I was going to use, BUT as to how I was going to go about it, well that is another story.  In saying that, I did have a hard time trying to decide on my bit that runs along the bottom bit of the card.  I tried so many ideas that I finally decided on what I ended up with & am glad I did, as I think it sets it off perfectly!

Measurements -
Base Card - Very Vanilla - 8 1/4" x 5 3/4" or 21cm x 15cm - Scored in middle & folded in half
Layer 1 - Not Quite Navy - 5 1/2" x 3 7/8" or 14cm x 10cm
Layer 2 - Watercolour Paper - 5 5/8" x 3 3/4" or 13.5cm x 9.5cm
Layer 3 - Very Vanilla - 5 5/8" x 3/4" or 13.5cm x 2cm

Supplies -
Stamp Set - French Foliage, Inspired By Nature
Ink - Versamark, Crumb Cake
Cardstock - Watercolour Paper, Not Quite Navy, Very Vanilla
Ribbon - 5/8"Crochet Trim - Victoria, Linen Thread
Accessories - Heat Tool, Embossing Powder - Clear, SU Markers, Pearls, Smooch Spritz - Very Vanilla, Distressing Kit, Snail Adhesive, Mini-Glue Dots

I really wanted to finished with my Base Card as Not Quite Navy, but cut both Layer 2 & 3 too big for that, so settled on Very Vanilla.  Maybe next time, as I have a couple of samples that didn't make this card!

After trying a couple of different ways to create my background, I finally used Watercolour Paper - soaks up the misting a lot faster & believe me, there is a LOT of misting on this card!

I also added a couple of elements to finish my card off.  You could say "Vintage meets Shabby Chic

Would love to know what you all think????

Don't forget to pop over to Sunny Challenges & Creations & see the other samples.  We have 3 Guest Designers - their samples are just gorgeous - this week along with Libby & Kris' samples.

We would love for you to join us - so come on & have a bit of fun with us this week!  What a great time to get out of your "Comfort Zone".  If I can do it, anyone can!

Happy Stampin'

Happy Easter...

Envelope & Inside of Card...
We created an Easter Card today at the Caloundra Community Centre.  Always a relief to hear that the ladies loved it!  Along with the card, we included the Techniques of Scoring & Chalking, plus a little bit of punching & we have a really lovely Easter card!  Will be the first to admit it is not your normal traditional card, but I love the Cabuary's Purple & I built the card around that colour!!!!!

Measurements -
Base Card - Concord Crush - 11 3/4" x 4 1/8" or 29.5cm x 10.5cm - Scored in middle & folded in half
Layer 1 - Whisper White - 5 3/4" x 3 7/8" or 14cm x 10cm
Layer 2 - Melon Mambo - 5 5/8" x 3 3/4" or 13.5cm x 9.5cm
Layer 3 - Whisper White - 3 3/4" x 3" or 9.5cm x 8cm
Layer 4 - Concord Crush - 3" x 2" or 8cm x 5cm
Layer 5 - Whisper White - 2 7/8" x 1 7/8" or 7.5cm x 4.5cm

I layered the piece of Melon Mambo to Whisper White & then to the Base Card using Snail Adhesive.

With the medium piece of Whisper White, I scored at /1/2" intervals diagonally & then diagonally the other using the Simply Scored Scoring Tool - out in the new Mini 1st April.  I then grabed a couple of SU! Sponges, my Stampin' Pastels & randomly chalked the whole area using 3 or 4 colours.  I added a little bit of Daffodil Delight to lift it a little & to bring the colours out.  I didn't really bother to fill all the white spaces, as I have left some here & there to give a little bit more of an effect!

I punched a border along both sides of the chalked piece with my Scallop Trim Border Punch.
I adhered a piece of Ribbon along the middle, tucked ends under, tied a knot & adhered to the Base Card with Snail Adhesive.

I stamped the Bunny image onto the smallest piece of Whisper White using Poppy Parade Ink & adhered to the piece of Concord Crush Cardstock.  This piece was adhered to the top of the card using Stampin' Dimensionals.

I typed the greeting onto a piece of Whisper White Cardstock, punched out with my Modern Label Punch.  I punched a 2nd piece in Concord Crush Cardstock & cut in 2.  I adhered this 2nd piece to the Whisper White so that just the ends of the Concord Crush were showing. 4 Pearls, 2 each end were adhered to the greeting.

I adhered 3 Pearls to the top LH corner of the image, 3 small Pearls along the bunny's neck while another was adhered tot the centre of the flower & adhered to her neck.  I punched this small flower using the Flower Punch from the Itty Bitty Punch Set in Melon Mambo Cardstock.

Supplies -
Stamp Set - Chocolate Bunny
Ink - Poppy Parade
Cardstock - Whisper White, Concord Crush, Melon Mambo
Ribbon - 1/2" Stitched-Poly - Concord Crush
Punches - Modern Label, Scallop Trim Border
Accessories - Snail Adhesive, Stampin' Dimensionals,
Bone Folder, Pearls, Stampin' Pastels, SU! Sponges
I will be posting another card made using the same supplies, etc in a couple of days, except it is a different shape & it was created prior to this one.
Until next time, Enjoy!

Thinking of You....

For the past week or so I've been playing with a couple of colours & for the lif eof me, cannot get enough of them together.  This is the first that I finished this morning.  Yep, heaps of unfinished cards, etc sitting on the side of my desk.  To make matters worse they just keep getting moved from one place to another & back again everyday.....

I've also been playing with Re-Inkers & Blender Pen.  This is my first card using both.
Envelope & Inside card...
Measurements -
Base Card - Sahara Sand - 11 3/4" x 4 1/8" or 29.5cm x 10.5cm - Scored in middle & folded in half
Layer 1 - Pink Pirouette - 5 3/4" x 4" or 14.5cm x 10cm
Layer 2 - Very Vanilla - 5 5/8" x 3 7/8" or 14cm x 9.5cm
Layer 3 - Bravo Burgundy - 2" x 4 1/4" or 5cm x 11.5cm
Layer 4 - Very Vanilla - 1 7/8" x 4" or 4.5cm x 11cm
Close up of Embossing & Flowers....
I stamped 2 images onto a scrap piece of Very Vanilla with Staz-On Ink & set aside to dry.  I placed a couple of drops of Pink Pirouette Re-Inker onto a Clear Mount Block, coloured my images with a Blender Pen.  I added a very tiny tiny amount of Bravo Burgundy Re-Inker to the same Block & sort of mixed the 2 together so that I could get a darker colour without being too Bravo Burgundy. I picked this up with my Blender Pen & coloured the flower closer to the middle & blended out towards the edges.  For the centres, I used Bravo Burgundy Re-Inker & Blender Pen to blend, although in the photo it looks a little pink.  I set these aside to dry prior to cutting around images.  Colouring on Very Vanilla Cardstock gives the colour a little more of a soft look then if it had've been on Whisper White.

I run the larger piece of Very Vanilla through the Bigshot using Embossing Folder - Flower Garden. This piece was adhered to the piece of Pink Pirouette with Tombow Glue & then to the Base Card - Sahara Sand with Snail Adhesive.

I stamped the stem onto the long piece of Very Vanilla Cardstock using Garden Green Ink & adhered to the piece of Bravo Burgundy Cardstock with Snail Adhesive.  I tied a piece of Bravo Burgundy Ribbon around the bottom & tied a knot. The whole piece was adhered to the Base Card.

I adhered the 2 flower images over the top of the stem with Stampin' Dimensionals.

The sentiment was stamped direct onto the Base Card with Bravo Burgundy Ink.

A fairly easy card, but one that I like as the Blender Pen & Re-Inkers give the flowers a little bit of depth.  Next time, I will try the same technique using Watercolour Paper, as well as Aqua Painter & Watercolour Paper.

 Supplies -
Stamp Set - Fabulous Florets*, So Happy For You

SC #3...

I found another challenge site on Sunday while I was surfing for some information, completely unrelated to craft or stamping, as you do!

It is only a new site - Retro Sketches - but boy have they got some followers.  The sketch had just been posted & didn't look too bad, so thought I would attempt it with some new products from SAB.

Measurements -
Base Card - Lucky Limeade - 11 3/4" x 4 1/8" or 30cm x 10.5cm
Layer 1 - Very Vanilla - 5 1/2" x 3 3/4" or 14cm x 9.5cm
Layer 2 - DSP - 5 1/2" x 2 5/8" or 14cm x 6.5cm
Layer 3 - Soft Suede - 2 1/4" x 2" or 5.5cm x 5cm
Layer 4 - DSP - 2 1/8" x 1 7/8" or 5cm x 4.5cm

I stamped 2 flower images onto the piece of Very Vanilla Cardstock using Pool Party Ink.  Am loving this colour!  The whole piece was run through the Bigshot using Embossing Folder - Square Lattice & adhered to the card.
Envelope & Inside Card...

Prior to adhering the DSP to the Base Card, I adhered a piece of Ribbon down the centre & tucked the ends under.

The small piece of DSP was adhered to the piece of Soft Suede & adhered to the top of the larger piece of DSP with Snail Adhesive.

I stamped the sentiment with Soft Suede Ink, punched out with the Curly Label Punch.  I cut a piece of Pool Party scrap Cardstock with the same punch, cut in half & adhered to the top & bottom of my greeting.  The whole piece was adhered to the smaller piece of DSP using Stampin' Dimensionals

I tied a bow & adhered to the card with a Mini Glue Dot.

I adhered 2 pearls to the centre of the small flowers.

I am loving these new products & for the life of me don't know why I haevn't used them previously.  Maybe, it had something to do with not being too keen on them, but boy has that changed!

Supplies -
Stamp Set - Fresh Vintage, Elementary Elegance
Ink - Pool Party, Soft Suede
Cardstock - Lucky Limeade, Very vanilla, Soft Suede, Pool Party
DSP - Everyday Enchantment
Embossing Folder - Square Lattice
Ribbon - 3/8" Ruffled - Pool Party

I've made a couple of other things using the same supplies today, but you will have to come back in a couple of days to check them out.

Until next time, Happy Stampin'

SC 032/12...

Sunday brings the beginning of a new week & the start of the new challenge over at Sunny Challanges & Creations.  It was my turn to create the sketch & issue the 2nd part of the challenge.  This week, I opted for DSP - Designer Series Paper.  How easy can that be???

Measurements -
Base Card - Cherry Cobbler - 8 1/4" x 4 1/8" or 21cm x 15cm -
Scored in middle & folded in half
Layer 1 - DSP - 3" x 4" or 10.5cm x 7.5cm
Layer 2 - Island Indigo - 1" x 4" or 1.5cm x 10.5cm
Layer 3 - Basic Black - 4" x 2" or 10.5cm x 5cm
Layer 4 - DSP - 3 7/8" x 1 7/8" or 10cm x 4.5cm
Layer 5 - River Rock - 3 1/2" x 2 1/2" or 9cm x 6.5cm
Layer 6 - DSP - 3 3/8" x 2 3/8" or 8.5cm  x 6cm
Layer 7 - Island Indigo - 4" x 2 1/2" or 10cm x 6.5cm
Layer 8 - Very Vanilla - 3 7/8" x 2 3/8" or 9.5cm x 6cm

Using my Eyelet Border Punch, I punched along the side of a scrap piece of Basic Black Cardstock & adhered to the larger piece of DSP prior to adhering to the Base Card - Cherry Cobbler using Snail Adhesive.

Envelope & Inside Card...
I adhered both pieces of DSP to the corresponding Cardstock with Snail Adhesive - DSP Red to the Basic Black & Black DSP to River Rock.  This piece was then adhered to the longer piece of DSP with Snail Adhesive & set aside.

I stamped my image onto Very Vanilla Cardstock with Staz-On Ink.  I meant to do a little embossing, but completely forgot about it until I had assembled my card.  Oh well, next time!  I adhered the stamped piece to both pieces of DSP ensuring that it overlapped.  I didn't quiet adhere permanently but left a little so that I could tuck the ends of my ribbon under.

The whole section was then adhered to the Base Card.  A bow was tied & adhered to the card with a Mini-Glue Dot.

The greeting was stamped in Staz-On Ink.  Again, the embossing was forgotten.

Supplies -
Stamp Set - Forever Young, A Word for You
Ink - Staz-On Black
Cardstock - Very Vanilla, Island Indigo, Cherry Cobbler, Basic Black
DSP - Timeless Portrait
Punches - Eyelet Border
Ribbon - 3/8" Ruffled - Island Indigo

Don't forget to pop over to Sunny Challenges & Creations to check out what both LibbyKris have created along with our 2 Guest Designers for the week.

Once you have completed your card, scrapbook page, etc pop back & link to Mr Linky.  We know you all have heaps of DSP, so this is the perfect challenge to cut into it & use some of it.

Until next time, Enjoy!

Challenge # 99....

Over at A La Card Monkey, they are one off reaching their 100th challenge.  I have been keeping my eye out for it so that I could create something for their big 100, but when I saw this great little sketch, thought I would have a go.  I'm not too sure about it at the moment, but will sit on it for awhile.  Usually if I am like this, I find it is best to leave it alone & not add as sometimes you will ruin it....

SC 031/12...

Our challenge over at Sunny Challenges this week has been bought to us by Kris.  Along with the sketch, she wants us to use the Technique - Chalkboard.  Tutorial at the end of post.  Now, I am not a lover of this technique as I find it very messy, but will be the first to admit it does leave you with a very lovely effect.  In fact, this is the first time that I have ever felt that I liked something well enough to post.
Maybe, just maybe you may find me attempting to create more using this technique.  I decided to use a Stamp Set that is a little different from the usual ones used for Chalkboard!   Using the stamp I used, I had to change the shape of the oval a little, so hopefully Kris will forgive me for this.  Mind you, that is the beauty about challenges, as long as you basically stay within the sketch, you have a free hold & it challenges you to use products, colours, techniques, etc you would not normally attempt.  In other words, "out of your comfort zone".  I even used colours that are way out of my comfort zone!!!!!
Measurements -
Base Card - Cherry Cobbler - 8 1/4" x 4 1/4" or 21cm x 15cm - Scored in middle & folded in half
Layer 1 - So Saffron - 3 7/8" x 4" or 10cm x 14.5cm
Layer 2 & 3 - Whisper White - 4 1/2" x 1 7/8" or 11.5cm x 5cm
Layer 4 - Bashful Blue - 2 3/8" x 3" or 6cm x 8cm
Layer 5 - Cherry Cobbler - 2 1/4" x 2 7/8" or 5.5cm x 7.5cm

Supplies -
Stamp Set - Lovely as a Tree, Happiest Birthday Wishes
Ink - White Craft, Cherry Cobbler, Bashful Blue
Cardstock - Whisper White, Cherry Cobbler, Bashful Blue, So Saffron
Embossing Folder - Perfect Polka Dots
Ribbon - 1/4" Grosgrain - Bashful Blue
Accessories - Stampin' Pastels, Bigshot, Snail Adhesive, Multipurpose Glue
Non-SU - Cotton Buds
Instructions -
Stamp image onto Cherry Cobbler Cardstock using White Craft Ink
Chalk image using Cotton Buds
Adhere to piece of Bashful Blue Cardstock with Snail Adhesive
Adhere Ribbon around bottom & tie knot. Set aside
Randomly stamp sentiment onto both pieces of Very Vanilla Cardstock using Cherry Cobbler Ink Prior to stamping, stamp off onto a scrap piece of paper
Run both pieces through Bigshot using Embossing Folder - Perfect Polka Dots
Adhere to So Saffron Cardstock as per sketch using Multipurpose Glue
Adhere chalked piece to Base Card as per sketch

Technique Tutorial -
Ink a solid image onto a dark Cardstock using White Craft Ink
With SU! Pastels & a Cotton Bud, apply chalk to your image, ensuring you dab over all the white ink
Add as many colours as you wish using the above step
With a Tissue, remove the excess chalk very carefully

Tips -
When using SU! Pastels, no need for the ink to dry
When using Pencils, allow the ink to dry
Use SU! Sponges instead of Cotton Buds

Ok, now it is your turn. Pop on over to Sunny Challenges, check out what Kris & Libby have created, create your card, scrapbook page, etc & then come back to Sunny Challenges & link to My Linky.

Until next time, Happy Stampin'

Loads of Love....

... is a Stamp Set I have not used much, in fact very rarely has it been out of it's case.  Thinking about what to create for my class at the Community Centre this arvo, thought this ight be appropriate.  I like to give the ladies Kits that they can use for either male or female cards.  Mind you, this doesn't work sometimes, but they don't seem to mind.

Our class has seen an increase in the last 2 weeks from 10 regulars to about 16 now & growing, so I have been thinking how the class can be managed now that I will have 16+ regulars each week & I think it has just hit me, but more about that next week.

Using this stamp set, I didn't want to make a male's card, so thought why not a girl's card & use all the pretty colours fro the "Subtles Family".  I'm quiet happy with the final result & screams "Girly".

Measurements -
Inside Card....
Base Card - Pretty in Pink - 11 5/8" x 4 1/8" or 29.5cm x 10.5cm - scored in the middle & folded in half
Layer 1 - Rose Red - 5 1/2" x 3 7/8" or 14cm x 10cm
Layer 2 - Whisper White - 3 1/2" x 1 1/2" or 9cm x 4cm
Layer 3 - Pretty in Pink - 4" x 2 5/8" or 10.5cm x 6.5cm
Layer 4 - Whisper White - 3 7/8" x 2 1/2" or 10cm x 6cm

Supplies -
Stamp Set - Loads of Love, So Happy for You (Retired)
Ink - Rose Red, Certainly Celery
Cardstock - Whisper white, Rose Red, Pretty in Pink
Embossing Folder - Perfect Polka Dots
Accessories - Tombow Glue, Flowers, SU Markers - Certainly Celery, Pretty in Pink, Rose Red, Blender Pen, Snail Adhesive, Stampin' Dimensionals, Brads - Rose Red, Re-Inker - Pretty in Pink, Bigshot, Crimper

Method -
Colour the larger Flower with Pretty in Pink Re-Inker & set aside to dry.  Do this by adding a small amount of water into a bowl along with a small drop or so of Pretty in Pink Re-Inker, drop flower in until all covered in coloured water.  I wanted my flower a very light colour so I only used a small drop
Run the piece of Rose Red Cardstock through the Crimper - longways & adhere to Base Card - Pretty in Pink with Tombow Glue
Run the small piece of Whisper White Cardstock through the Bigshot using Embossing Folder - Perfect Polka Dots & adhere to card with Tombow Glue
Stamp images direct onto Whisper White Cardstock with Rose Red Ink
Colour image using Blender Pen, SU Markers - Pretty in Pink, Rose Red & Certainly Celery
Adhere to piece of Pretty in Pink Cardstock & then to Base Card with Snail Adhesive
Attach Flowers together with Brad & adhere to card with Stampn' Dimensional
Stamp senitment onto Whisper White with Certainly Celery Ink sideways

After completing this card in these colours, I think I will be making a coupl emore in "girly" colours - gives a whole fresh look to the stamp set!

Until next time, enjoy!

Gorgeous Blogger Award....

Last month I received this "Gorgeous Blogger Award" from the very talented Kris .  Isn't the little girl so cute in the badge?

I am very late in posting this to my blog.  Kris is a very talented SU! as well as my one of my co-partners with Sunny Challenges & Creations, so I feel very honoured & humble in receiving it!

To receive this award there are a couple of things I must do -

Thank the person who gave me this award - A very big Thank You Kris
Paste the award to my blog
Link the person who nominated you for this award
Nominate as many other bloggers for this award as you like
Post links to their blogs

Now, for me the hardest part is deciding who to pass this award onto - there are soooooooooooo many talented stampers & crafters out there who inspire me daily.  If I was to pass it onto everyone I would be here for quiet sometime, so I've had to really narrow it down.

Here we go -
Leah Weir -  http://stampinwithleah.blogspot.com.au
Erna Logtenberg - http://ernalogtenberg.blogspot.com.au
Jean McKenzie - http://jeanmckenzie.blogspot.com.au
Tami Black - http://www.makeminestamps.com

Please visit these ladies blogs & let them know how gorgeous their work is.  I am sure they would tickled pink to have you leave a comment.

Do you ever have an idea in your head but doesn't atter what you do it just never seems to end up how you pictured it the same on paper.  This is what happened to the card I created for today's challenge over at Sunny Challenges & Creations  Now that it is finally finished, I am  really happy with, but I must confess it has taken me a couple of days as I kept stopping & starting.  In fact I created 2 cards, but like this one the best.
